Chapter 819
Chapter 822:
It was evident that this seemingly boundless pile amounted to tens of millions, a windfall beyond her wildest expectations. Greyson’s generosity knew no bounds.
“I’ve heard that you overdrew a portion of your future attorney fees when you reclaimed your parents’ villa. Take the bonus and refund the payment,” Greyson stated with a serious expression.
Candice looked up quizzically. With the exception of a select few at the law office, no one was aware that she had spent twelve years’ worth of private lawyer’s fees in exchange for the villa of the Blake family since she had committed to Milton in writing.
“Greyson, it seems you have an uncanny knowledge of my affairs,” Candice raised an eyebrow, her voice tinged with suspicion. “Did you pay my assistant off?”
Greyson’s handsome countenance froze momentarily; he was unable to deny the accusation. “No, I didn’t. Just a mere dalliance with words. I genuinely worry for your well-being. There are no ulterior motives, I assure you.”
“Greyson, I am a grown woman, capable of taking responsibility for my actions and decisions. You have overstepped your boundaries.” Candice’s discontent was palpable as she retorted.
“But Candice, I want nothing more than to see you unburdened, devoid of debt. You should get the bonus. Do you not think it would be good to utilize it to settle the mortgage? Nobody can hold you back except yourself. Isn’t it your determination to accomplish what you want?” He sought to sever the connection between Candice and Milton, to release her from the chains that bound her.
“I know how to handle my affairs,” Candice replied, her brow furrowing. Seeing her resolute silence, Greyson’s anxiety grew. “Do you not give weight to my previous words? Your mother…”
Candice cut Greyson off abruptly before he could complete his sentence. “Stop! I have declared my disbelief. Greyson, I am a lawyer, a purveyor of evidence. Groundless rumors hold no sway over me.”
Candice was fuming with rage. If not for Greyson’s reminder, she could have forgotten about this issue entirely. For a brief moment, doubt had crept into her mind, but it swiftly dissipated.

Mere detachment from the realm of biological technology had birthed malicious gossip, tainting her mother’s memory. Candice refused to entertain such rumors. Her family, as far as she knew, bore no association with the Royal Garden Corporation.
Greyson’s brows furrowed deeply as he spoke, his tone laced with concern. “So, you have not ventured into the depths of the Royal Garden Corporation to seek answers from the past?”
Candice responded with cold detachment, “It is unnecessary.”
Greyson remained silent, determined to delve into the depths she had chosen to leave unexplored. If evidence was what she desired, he would unearth it himself and show it to her.
Candice’s fists clenched, her icy gaze piercing Greyson’s soul. “Greyson, I shall reiterate. I appreciate your assistance in obtaining the evidence that exposed Benson and Grady’s treacherous actions against the Blake Group, framing the company. However, from this point forward, our paths must diverge. My parents suffered a tragic fate, and I refuse to let anyone besmirch their memory. I shall find the truth behind their demise on my own. Please don’t poke your nose into this. Furthermore, I beseech you not to endanger yourself for my sake.”
