Chapter 820
Chapter 823:
Candice’s words rang true, echoing the depths of her conviction.
She had kept this secret from Milton, for she sensed the lurking danger that awaited her.
“Please, leave here and take your flowers with you!” Candice said, her voice carrying an icy edge.
Greyson maintained a stoic silence, choosing not to engage in an argument with her. Aware of his current disadvantage in their relationship, he opted to go along with her for now, patiently awaiting the day when he would gather enough evidence to tip the scales.
“I shall take my leave now. By the way, I have entrusted Mona from your esteemed law firm with the role of legal counsel for both Harmony Hospital and Harman Group. Lately, I find myself embroiled in a few acquisitions, which may necessitate frequent visits. Moreover, I have encountered some troublesome disputes. I shall forward the relevant materials to your email. If you find the time, I implore you to peruse them and offer your valuable counsel.”
Greyson was well aware that beneath Candice’s tough exterior, there lay a softer side. If he were to seek her assistance, she would not refuse.
This was his sole means of staying connected with her. He knew she was reluctant to take on his case, hence he sought out Mona as the legal counselor. At least this way, he would have a legitimate reason to visit the Hope Law Firm on a regular basis.
Reverting to his customary calm and detached demeanor, Greyson turned on his heels and departed, leaving the bouquet of flowers he had brought behind.
After Greyson’s departure, Candice promptly summoned the assistant lawyer via the landline. “Come over.”
After a moment’s hesitation, the nervous assistant entered. “Miss Blake, how may I assist you?”
Looking up, Candice asked, “Is it you who divulged my daily whereabouts to Greyson? Why? What reward did he offer you?”

“Oh, I…” the assistant stammered, shaking her head in denial. “Miss Blake, I have never disclosed any significant information. I understand the importance of safeguarding business secrets. Truly, I do. It’s just… Well, my father underwent heart surgery at Harmony Hospital, and Principal Harman took exceptional care of him. I wanted to express my gratitude, but he refused any gifts. Occasionally, he would inquire about your presence in the office or when you would arrive for work, and I found myself in an awkward position, so I divulged such information.”
Candice pursed her lips, finally understanding how Greyson had become privy to her whereabouts. The time he happened to be in the vicinity of her house during the car accident now made sense.
“I have exceeded my attorney’s fee to acquire my own villa. How did you know about that?” Candice pointed out.
“I overheard your conversation with Miss Reeves. When Principal Harman inquired about your place of residence, I disclosed it. I apologize, Miss Blake. It was not my intention. I shall never reveal any information about you again. I believe Principal Harman meant well. I didn’t consider the consequences at the time… I… Sorry. Please forgive me…”
The rattled assistant waved her hands, desperate to retain her position as an intern lawyer. She had a promising future alongside Candice. Believing Greyson to be Candice’s ex-husband and sensing an underlying connection between them, she assumed Greyson’s intentions were well-meaning and borne out of concern for Candice. She never imagined that Candice would take offense.
