Chapter 822
Chapter 825:
Candice was taken aback. Why was Dr. Foster’s phone in the hands of the police? The major crimes division dealt with severe criminal cases.
What had occurred?
Candice sensed something was off about Dr. Foster.
“Ah, you see, I once requested Dr. Foster’s assistance in retrieving some old records, but he hasn’t responded in days. I was just checking in. Is something wrong? Has something happened to him?” Candice said, her voice filled with worry.
“He’s no longer alive. He was found dead in his own home two days ago,” the detective from the major crimes division spoke with seriousness.
“Since you encountered him prior to his passing, please report to the West Police Station tomorrow morning. We need your insight into the case.”
“Agreed,” Candice concurred immediately.
Suddenly, a thought hit her. She said immediately, “Hold on, could I know the cause of his death? I’m not trying to interfere with police matters. I’m an attorney. I just want to know the publicly disclosed cause of his death.”
“Heart failure, sudden cardiac death,” the detective responded and then ended the call.
Candice sprang up from her chair, her hand covering her mouth. She was in shock.
What just happened? Dr. Foster had suddenly died just when she needed to extract information from him. He died of heart failure. It implied Dr. Foster suffered a heart attack at home and died unnoticed. Was that possible?
He was only in his early fifties, vibrant and healthy.
If his death was accidental, why did the major crimes division step in?
Just as Candice was gathering evidence from the incident three years prior and reaching out to Dr. Foster, he died under suspicious circumstances.
Was this merely a coincidence?

Or was it orchestrated?
Candice was taken aback by this unexpected turn of events. The case of her parents’ demise was already over three years old.
Candice had an instinct that all these incidents were related to her in some way.
Her eyes fell on the documents Greyson had left on her desk.
She hastily sat down, rifling through the records one by one. She believed it was crucial to make sense of the account books, the individuals her parents had interacted with, and their actions.
Over three years prior, Candice lacked the means to uncover the truth. But now, unlike before, she possessed the necessary capabilities.
As time passed by, Candice continued working until midnight.
She skipped dinner as she was deeply absorbed in her tasks.
Around eleven in the evening, the law firm was peaceful and tranquil. Only a couple of lights flickered in the otherwise quiet offices. Apart from two assistants diligently working late into the night, the rest of the staff had called it a day.
