Chapter 839
Chapter 842:
Without warning, Milton pressed the intercom button on his desk. “Blair, please come in. Also, Catherine just left. Bring her back immediately.”
Upon hearing Milton’s command, Sigrid struck a haughty pose.
She relied on the strong ties between their families. Moreover, since she was one year older than Milton, he had always shown her respect and courtesy.
After a while, Blair entered the room and inquired, “Mr. Lopez, how may I assist you?”
Milton propped his chin with one hand, twirling a pen in the other. His handsome face betrayed no hint of emotion, leaving everyone guessing whether he was pleased or angry.
“Is there a rumor circulating within the company that the Olson family and the Lopez family are planning a merger through marriage?” Milton asked.
Blair was taken aback. How could she answer such a question? Moreover, Sigrid was standing there, observing her with arrogance, which put great pressure on her. Blair couldn’t fathom the intent and purpose behind her boss’ question. She found herself caught in a dilemma.
“Tell me the truth!” Milton ordered coldly.
Startled, Blair replied honestly, “Yes, Mr. Lopez. Last time, your mother personally brought Miss Olson to your office. It was clear to everyone that Miss Olson was destined to become a member of the Lopez family. Everyone believes that you and Miss Olson are a perfect match. You are both beautiful, capable individuals with similar family backgrounds.” Blair chose to flatter Sigrid, realizing that once she married into the Lopez family, she would likely exert control over the secretaries. It was wise to align herself with her future mistress in advance.
Sigrid looked at Blair with a smug expression, satisfied with her response. Suddenly, Milton sneered and reclined against the back of his chair, appearing relaxed.

He picked up the coffee in front of him and took a sip, remaining silent. Time passed, and an odd, stifling atmosphere hung in the office.
Sigrid couldn’t decipher the meaning behind Milton’s silence.
Having grown up in a notable family, Sigrid knew how to handle setbacks. At this moment, she chose to take a step back and said, “I’m sorry, Milton. I let my emotions get the better of me earlier. Please don’t take it to heart. I will fulfill my duties and strive to become a perfect wife.”
While they were talking, Catherine hurriedly rushed back to Milton’s office upon receiving the call from Blair. She was unsure of what Milton had in store for her.
As she entered the office, Catherine immediately sensed the odd atmosphere within. Observing Catherine’s arrival, Sigrid anticipated that Milton would undoubtedly cancel Catherine’s design. Feeling even more arrogant, she cast a disdainful gaze in Catherine’s direction.
Catherine felt uneasy being disregarded and belittled by Sigrid. However, being from a non-noble background, she had no choice but to silently endure the insult and humiliation. With trepidation, she approached Milton.
