Chapter 841
Chapter 844:
Catherine repeatedly bowed to express her gratitude to Milton.
Blair, on the other hand, never anticipated being fired. Tears streamed down her face as she pleaded, “Mr. Lopez, did I do something wrong? I’ll correct it. I… I don’t want to lose this job.” She couldn’t find another job that was as well-paid and stable. Blair felt lost and unsure of what to do next.
Stunned, Sigrid found herself in a state akin to plummeting from the stars into a deep chasm. She was speechless.
When he strode into the office, Axell whisked away a tearful Blair and promptly instructed Catherine to finalize a contract in the design department. He cleared the secretaries’ station, sending all personnel away.
Soon enough, the office held only Milton and Sigrid.
Sigrid stared blankly at Milton.
“Milton, what do you mean? You fired me?”
Milton turned around, positioning himself before the towering window. The silhouette cast by the harsh light rendered his figure chillingly cold.
He sneered. “What made you think I’d marry you? How ridiculous it is! My disregard of your recent offensive comments towards Candice was a final courtesy to the Olson family. Should it occur again, you will face severe consequences.”
Milton’s gaze grew frosty as he continued, “Don’t presume I’m unaware of your theatrics when you first met Candice in my office. You intentionally spilled coffee on yourself and blamed her. I spared you any repercussion only for Elmo’s sake.”
Milton had withheld this revelation, trusting in Candice’s ability to vindicate herself while observing her reaction. He wished she would show a twinge of jealousy. Yet things did not play out as he envisioned. Sigrid paled, the realization dawning that Milton knew everything all along.

He had let her believe she was successful, allowing her to celebrate like a fool, only to deliver a humiliating blow.
Her voice trembled as she asked, “If you won’t marry me, what will you tell your mother?”
A derisive chuckle escaped Milton before he threw a piercing gaze at Sigrid. He questioned, “Did my mother pledge you something? It’s unlikely. She understands me enough not to meddle in my affairs, much less dictate my choices.”
Guilt washed over Sigrid. Erica had not only disagreed but also advised her to let go.
Erica had told her, “If he really liked you, he wouldn’t have let you wait for so many years. Think about it. What makes you think he will stay committed to you his whole life if you can’t even get
“After seven years?” Back then, Sigrid had shrugged off her words. But now, Milton’s actions cut deep.
