Chapter 893
Chapter 896:
Before Bart could answer, Annot suddenly shouted, “Shut up!” She sneered and continued, “You’ve talked so much and played several surveillance videos, but they’re all unconnected. Yet, you still have no concrete evidence. Where is the proof that my son was involved in those incidents? If you have nothing, then all of you should just shut up.”
Milton, who had always been arrogant since he was young, was about to refute Annot, but she continued.
“Erica, Arlo must have died a long time ago. Yet, you’ve hidden this from the public for three years just to secure the Lopez family’s shares. You really are ridiculous!”
Hearing Annot’s words, everyone immediately fell silent.
Candice was also stunned. Arlo was dead? There had been no news about him for the past three years. He hadn’t shown up either. So, he was dead?
Candice looked at Milton in confusion.
Milton shook his head slightly, gesturing for her to stay calm.
Bettina exchanged glances with Raul, and Raul also shook his head, indicating he wasn’t familiar with the situation either.
Raul had been out of the loop—he hadn’t seen Arlo in more than three years and had never heard Milton mention his father during that time.
Erica grew visibly tense and said nervously,
“Annot, what nonsense are you talking about?”
Annot sneered,
“Nonsense? Or are you just feeling guilty? I can’t even see him with my own eyes—how can I believe he’s still alive? Erica, don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. My father is still alive, though barely, and now that my brother is dead, I should have a share of his holdings. I know you’re hiding his death, waiting for my father to pass so you and your son can monopolize the shares. Am I wrong? You act generous and tolerant in public, but deep down, you’re just a cunning woman!”
At that moment, Bettina quietly pulled Candice to her side and whispered curiously,
𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 ⍰
“What shares? What is she talking about?”
Since she had handled many of the Royal Garden Corporation’s acquisitions, Candice had a solid understanding of the Lopez family’s share distribution.
She explained softly,
“Milton’s grandfather is Jordy Lopez. He’s over eighty now and currently living in the city’s top hospice. His wife already passed away. According to his latest will, if Arlo died before Jordy and didn’t leave behind a will, then Arlo’s siblings would receive a portion of his shares. However, if Jordy died first, there wouldn’t be that issue.”
She continued in a hushed tone,
“The Lopez family’s shares are quite complicated. When Erica married into the Lopez family, her family’s company merged with theirs. She traded her shares in the Gonzalez Group for shares in the Royal Garden Corporation. So don’t underestimate her—she owns a considerable portion and is one of the major shareholders.”
