Chapter 926
Chapter 931:
With that irresistible charm, she glided toward Milton, who stood rooted in awe. No one, he felt, could compare to her ethereal beauty. In a low, hoarse voice, he said, “Send everyone away. Let them go home early.”
Catherine understood immediately. She gave a slight smile and signaled the staff to depart.
Candice watched, bewildered, as the servants disappeared. Looking down at herself, she asked, “What’s wrong? Isn’t it pretty? I thought it was beautiful. Are you unhappy with the dress?”
Milton stepped forward and beckoned, “Come here.”
When Candice reached him, he slipped his arms around her. Only then did she realize his intention. How had she been so naive? With no one else present, the purpose of his command was unmistakable—and it was not the first time he had led her into such a private moment.
She bit her lip, her cheeks flushing as he brushed a gentle hand across her cheek and let his fingers trail along her neck, drinking in her beauty like a traveler parched in the desert.
Milton loosened his tie and let it drop. The gesture spoke louder than words.
Blushing deeply, Candice turned her gaze away and began unbuttoning his shirt. In moments like these, she knew resistance was futile—and she couldn’t bear to disappoint Catherine, who had poured her heart into creating this very dress.
If she didn’t want Catherine’s hard work to go down the drain, Candice had to take the initiative to cooperate with Milton.
Anyway, it would all be in vain if she resisted him. It would be better to minimize the loss. Who knew that better than her?
Hence, she calmly gave in. Later, Candice was relieved that her clothes were not in tatters and scattered all over the floor.
Although it felt like she had run a mile, she got up to get dressed. Candice wore her street clothes, lay back on the sofa, and nestled into Milton’s arms. His heartbeat was still hard and fast. When Candice noticed that his shirt still clung to his perfect figure, she blushed, and her heartbeat increased.

She straightened and buttoned his shirt for him. She found his tie and tied it for him.
“When will you get off work today?”
Milton glanced at his watch. “I’m busy tonight. I have something important to deal with. I’ll drive you home first. Perhaps I won’t come back tonight.”
“Fine,” Candice responded. She was so used to his company now that she felt disappointed. The house felt weird and uncomfortable when he wasn’t around.
Milton noticed the slight frown on her face. He pinched her nose and teased, “What’s wrong? Don’t you want me to go, or do you want some more?”
He was more than satisfied with her just now. Also, he realized that they kept getting better.
Candice rolled her eyes. “I don’t. Don’t flatter yourself. I’m so happy being alone that I wish you wouldn’t come back every night.” Milton’s face mirrored disbelief.
“I’m going to Raleigh. Don’t worry. I’ll be back before the engagement party tomorrow. I’ve already drawn up the guest list and sent someone personally to invite them. You know most of them. Also, only one person from the media has been given an invite—that is Bettina’s brother, so you don’t have to worry,” Milton explained.
