Chapter 932
Chapter 938:
Opening the message, he saw the words, “Good morning.”
A smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he dialed her number without hesitation.
Candice answered the call but said in a hushed tone, “Hey, why are you calling? I’m in a meeting right now.”
Milton paid no attention to her last sentence. “Why did you text me so early in the morning? Did you wake up ahead of time? Couldn’t you sleep well without me beside you last night?”
Candice blushed slightly as she replied, “Quit talking nonsense. I slept just fine.”
But immediately after finishing her words, an involuntary yawn slipped out.
“Really?” Milton voiced his skepticism upon hearing her yawn. “Weren’t you disappointed when you found out I couldn’t make it back last night?”
“No. I’m going to end the call now. I’m in a meeting,” Candice retorted, her tone laced with anger.
“You are lying. You didn’t sleep well, did you?” Milton refused to let it slide. “You better acknowledge that you miss me. Otherwise, you know what I’ll do when I return. Come on, I’m not a patient man.”
Candice had no choice but to give in. “Yes, I do miss you. I couldn’t even fall asleep without you by my side. That’s what you want to hear, right? Are you pleased now?”
“Good girl.” A smug grin spread across Milton’s face. “Take the afternoon off and go get yourself ready. I’ll be back as soon as I can. You trust me, right?”
“I will. I have to return to the meeting. Bye now.” With that, she promptly ended the call.
Milton stared at the dimmed screen of his phone, and his grin widened. He was in high spirits this morning.

After a refreshing shower and a change of clothes, he stepped out of the room and noticed Erica seated in the living room.
“Why didn’t you wake me up early? You know I have to go back on time.” Milton furrowed his brow.
“You got here late. I thought you would be very tired, so I wanted you to rest longer. Let’s have breakfast first.” Erica stood up, pondering how to approach the subject.
“I’m not hungry. I lost my appetite. I’ll go upstairs and check on him first. If everything is fine, you can return with me. My engagement party is tonight, and as my mom, you can’t afford to be late.” With those words, he headed straight for the second floor. Erica immediately got to her feet and went after him.
Milton’s entrance into the second-floor room left him momentarily stunned as he took in the decor.
It resembled his father’s study at the Lopez family residence.
