Chapter 962
Chapter 968:
Greyson couldn’t continue; the thought of her heart almost ceasing terrified him. He had a lingering fear.
“Is it serious?” Candice sensed his change in demeanor. As a doctor, his expression of fear indicated a complex situation. “Tell me the truth. Don’t sugarcoat it.”
Taking a deep breath, he revealed, “You’re fortunate. You received treatment in the nick of time. I performed mitral valve replacement and the Bentall procedure on you. It was a somewhat intricate process. Luckily, you pulled through.”
He said this matter-of-factly, but only he knew the tumultuous journey he had been through.
Candice looked at Greyson calmly. She knew him well. The more he tried to appear composed, the graver the situation. She recollected that Greyson had urged her to undergo a color ultrasound and have a thorough check-up.
But she hadn’t taken it seriously. Little did she know, she had an underlying heart condition.
“So, you conducted the surgery for me? You saved my life?” she asked sincerely.
Greyson did not answer.
Candice interpreted his silence as affirmation.
Consequently, she expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you.”
Her words seemed to create a distance between them. That wasn’t what he had wanted.
“How do you feel now? How’s your breathing? Any chest discomfort? Can you see clearly? Any dizziness? Nausea?” Greyson asked cautiously.
Candice shook her head and replied, “No, I feel fine. Thank you for your concern.”
Having said that, she shifted her gaze away, her eyes drifting towards the ward’s entrance. Nobody came for her.
A tinge of loneliness and disappointment flickered in her eyes. Greyson, aware of whom Candice was waiting for, couldn’t help but clench his fists.

“What about him? Does he know? Will he come?” Candice asked.
Seeing Candice sad was something Greyson couldn’t stand.
He grappled with how to respond to her question.
Even though she had recently endured a life-threatening ordeal and had been abandoned, the first thing she wanted to know upon waking was whether Milton would come. This realization tugged at his heart.
“He knows. He witnessed you collapsing in the hall of Orlanda Hotel,” Greyson replied, opting for complete transparency.
He had decided not to hide anything from her anymore.
A glimmer of hope flickered in Candice’s eyes. What did this mean? It suggested that Milton had followed her. How else could he have arrived at the hall and witnessed her fainting?
She was eager to learn more.
Greyson continued, “He donated 800 milliliters of blood to you and promised to let you go. He left after the operation.”
