Chapter 964
Chapter 970:
She smiled bitterly.
Why had she presumed that he wouldn’t mind? Her confidence had been unfounded.
A month had passed.
Candice had been recovering at Harmony Hospital, gradually engaging in rehabilitation exercises until she fully regained her strength. The scar on her chest had been meticulously repaired by a professional cosmetician. Apart from a faint mark, it was nearly imperceptible.
Bettina and her colleagues visited her frequently.
Every time Bettina saw her, they delved into discussions about work and daily life. No one broached the subject of what transpired that fateful night at the engagement party. It remained a closely guarded secret, as if it had never occurred.
And Milton had never appeared.
Candice diligently worked in the ward. Although Milton had yet to make an appearance, he sent Axell to discuss work matters with her. The acquisition of Karen Steel Company steadily progressed, with the 3% shares mentioned previously clearly outlined in the contract. The acquisition was slated to smoothly conclude in approximately a month.
Meanwhile, Greyson had successfully completed the full acquisition of Centilength Biotech. At this point, Centilength Biotech was entirely under the ownership of the Harman Group.
One day, Candice was packing up in the ward.
After Greyson finished his work, he entered her ward.
Upon noticing Candice packing her suitcase, he frowned and hurriedly grasped her wrist. “Where do you intend to go after leaving the hospital?”
Candice gazed up at him and replied, “Naturally, I wish to return home. I’ve spent far too much time here in the hospital, and I’ve made a full recovery. There’s no reason to remain.”

During this period, Greyson had been a constant presence, accompanying her nearly every day. Especially in the initial stages following her surgery, he had personally attended to her needs, from medical examinations to rehabilitation training and even her dietary requirements.
Candice was well aware of the extent to which he had gone to care for her and understood the sentiment behind his words.
Nonetheless, she knew that she and Greyson could never return to the past.
Greyson pulled her closer and said softly, “Don’t return home. Come back with me, okay?”
“Go back with you?” Candice looked at him with a faint smile.
“Yes. I’ve purchased a new villa by the lake. If you don’t want to live with my family, we can move there and start anew. I promise that no one will disturb you,” Greyson assured her.
Rachel and Madilyn wouldn’t be bothering her anymore.
