Chapter 983
Chapter 989:
In a swift motion, Candice swiped the phone from his hand. Before he could react, she held his neck with both hands. And then, she kissed him.
“My heart aches, yearning for the antidote of your kiss,” she whispered softly against his lips.
Her hands extended, enveloping his neck firmly, and she took the bold step to initiate their passionate kiss. Shyness was a mere bystander; it was not her first time doing this.
Milton was struck dumb by the sudden intimacy as her lips met his, igniting a fire that threatened to consume him whole. He almost crumbled under the weight of this overpowering moment.
Unable to hold back any longer, he responded with a fervor matched only by his longing and desire, their connection careening out of control.
Sensing the intensity of his response, Candice couldn’t help but wear a knowing smile. She refused to believe that he was merely toying with her; she was not one to be easily deceived.
Her audacity grew as there was no secretary, and the office door was shut. Engulfed in their fervent kiss, she audaciously loosened his tie and unfastened his collar!
Milton, inching towards a loss of self-control, peppered her neck with kisses and began the meticulous process of disrobing her, only to bump into a faint pink scar on her chest.
In that instant, reality snapped him back from the precipice. What on earth had he been doing? She had nearly perished the last time, and he couldn’t imagine the potential consequences if she took a heavy blow again.
Regaining his senses, he swiftly withdrew, his face flushed and his breath heavy. Hastily, he wore his shirt and tie.
Candice felt his withdrawal run through her like an icy chill penetrating her very core. She couldn’t believe that he left at that moment. He was quite adamant in his resolve, it seemed.

Milton managed to regain his composure as if the preceding moments had been erased from existence. His nonchalance filled her with panic and dread.
As Milton prepared to leave, Candice seized his hand, her voice trembling as she inquired, “What’s the matter? Why did you stop? I know you desire me as much as I desire you.”
Milton cruelly shook off her hand.
“You may leave now. I made my intentions clear last time. I have no wish to repeat myself. Our relationship is over. Cease your pursuit!” Milton then returned to his desk and resumed reviewing the documents.
Candice’s heart sank, the weight of the past two months’ despair washing over her anew. Swiftly, she re-clothed herself, marching straight to his desk and holding the edge with both hands.
