Chapter 1003
Chapter 1011:
“I’m sorry, Mr. Lopez.”
Milton was instantly depressed by Axell’s words.
“It appears she’s been planning this for quite some time. She’s definitely put a lot of thought into this. Before returning home, she transferred all the money in her Thonde account to a Belnesse bank. As you know, Belnesse is the bank of choice for tax evaders. Once the money gets in there, there’s literally no way to trace it.”
“What did you say?” Milton’s last ember of hope was swiftly extinguished as a cold darkness swept over him. His entire body began to collapse. If it weren’t for Raul’s quick reflexes, Milton wouldn’t have been able to stay upright before his body crashed to the floor.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Lopez. I gave it my all. I’ll continue to look for her. Once I get any news, I’ll immediately report to you,” Axell’s voice came through, filled with regret.
Raul hung up the phone, looking at Milton with concern. “Milton, Candice is determined not to give her location away. You know she’s an expert at this and would never be careless enough to leave a single clue behind. Don’t worry too much. I heard from Betty that she’ll return. She said she would be gone for about one or two years, but she will come back.”
“One or two years?” Milton’s voice cracked with disbelief. One or two days alone was torture enough for him. But one or two years?
Milton immediately regretted not forcing her to stay with him. Even if she ended up hating him for the rest of her life, he realized letting her go was a huge mistake. As long as he could see her safe and sound with his own eyes, it would be enough.
“One or two years… If she plans on leaving for that long, why did she decide to cancel her lawyer’s license?” Milton’s glare shot at Raul, his pupils narrowing like that of a predator locked on its prey. “Tell me, why did she cancel it?”

Raul shook his head. He was absolutely clueless.
Suddenly, Milton stood up from his chair and rushed toward his desk. He flipped through his telephone directory before finding the number he needed. In a matter of seconds, he was dialing the number of the Judicial Bureau’s director.
With his connections and power, he believed there was nothing he couldn’t do in Ploville. He wouldn’t accept the idea that he couldn’t stop her.
The director answered the phone personally. After a quick check of the records, he replied, “Mr. Lopez, we indeed have received Candice’s application. It’s been stamped and is currently in effect.”
“Withdraw it! Withdraw it now!” Milton bellowed from the other end of the phone. He had completely lost control.
The director was slightly confused. “But Mr. Lopez, this was done of her own will. Not to mention, it’s already been approved. Even if it’s withdrawn, the application still requires the applicant to write and sign a request. Besides, it would be useless for her to keep the certificate if she never wanted to be a lawyer. If she wishes to pursue it, she can take another exam.”
