Chapter 1025
Chapter 1035:
Milton swallowed hard, the alluring flex of his Adam’s apple a conspicuous testament to the emotions roiling within him.
“Is this your way of seeking revenge?” Milton inquired, his voice laced with a glimmer of hope. If it were, perhaps she might find some solace.
Candice remained inscrutable, nonchalantly shrugging her shoulders as she responded, “You can interpret it that way. I’ll be taking the room adjacent to your CEO’s office. ICIF will commence an investigation within the Royal Garden Corporation from this point forward. Hope you can understand. I apologize if my actions seem offensive.”
Milton pressed his lips into a thin line, his brow furrowing in contemplation. At that moment, Thomas returned to Candice’s side and reported, “Miss Blake, it’s all set.”
“Very well, let’s consider the day concluded. It’s time to go,” Candice declared, turning away with an air of indifference.
Her unfeeling look made Milton gasp for breath. Instinctively, he reached out and grabbed her arm. “Wait. Will you be heading home this time?” Milton inquired, his tone carrying a glimmer of hope.
Candice pivoted to face him, her gaze tinged with derision.
“Home? Mr. Lopez, this is a business trip, so naturally, I’ll be staying in a hotel.”
Milton couldn’t help but tighten his grip on her arm. Staying in a hotel implied a fleeting visit. Would she be leaving again?
He abruptly withdrew his hand and drew her closer. Their proximity was almost electric, and the primal longing deep within him was nearly irresistible.
Candice shook her arm free, disentangling herself.
“Mr. Lopez, we’re in a public setting. I implore you to maintain your decorum, especially considering our current adversarial circumstances.”
Milton released his hold, his gaze locking onto her with an indescribable intensity. “What is it that you want?”
Candice met his question with a sly smile. “What’s the matter? Are you concerned? Concerned that I might bring about the downfall of the Royal Garden Corporation?”

With an enigmatic smile, Candice drew nearer to Milton and murmured, “For the sake of our shared past, there’s still room for negotiation. Mr. Lopez, if you are prepared to make a personal sacrifice… Well, once you’ve made up your mind, you can always come find me. If your efforts manage to impress me, I might consider being a bit more lenient.”
Having said this, Candice deftly slipped a card into Milton’s suit pocket with two delicate fingers.
Then, she flashed a bewitching smile, turned on her heel, and left.
“Thomas, Leo, Anna, Tony, let’s move,” Candice ordered.
“Yes, Miss Blake,” they responded in unison, offering a standard international salute, and followed Candice out of the room.
Milton’s gaze lingered on Candice’s graceful departure, tracking her until she vanished from sight.
