Elmo remained silent. In truth, he was indeed contemplating breaking his promise.
He knew he shouldn’t covet Candice. Milton had been crazy for her, and he and Milton were close friends. Had it not been for this friendship, Elmo would have already confessed his feelings toward Candice a year ago.
Yet, he had to acknowledge the persistence of that temptation, the desire to make his advances toward Candice.
However, he managed to control himself and didn’t reveal his intentions immediately.
Shifting the subject, Elmo spoke casually. “Candice, it appears to be a flawless plan, but you’ve overlooked a critical factor. I need to remind you that there’s a wildcard in our strategy.”
“What wildcard?” Candice inquired. “What are you talking about? Unless you can’t come up with ten billion dollars to acquire the Olson family.”
