Chapter 1035
Chapter 1045:
As he reached out his hands in an attempt to get her to stay, Candice looked back at him before coldly warning him, “Stay away from me. If you dare to try and touch me again, consider me one of your enemies. Understood?”
Startled by her sudden threat, Elmo chuckled out of rage. Didn’t she know that the more she played hard to get, the more interested he would be? “Fine. I’m not gonna touch you.” With a subtle shrug, he stayed put and smiled back at her.
Just as Candice was about to open the door to leave, she heard more than a single set of footsteps rushing toward her from the other side.
She instinctively took a step back in retreat, a frown spreading across her lips. The office door flew wide open with a resounding crash.
A flustered-looking Sigrid rushed in, her current expression startlingly different from her usual arrogant demeanor.
Behind Sigrid, Paisley’s usual grace was replaced by apprehension. She was in such a hurry that she was seemingly unaware of how messy her hair was. As these two ladies bolted into the room, they didn’t notice Candice at first.
Sigrid shouted, “Elmo, bad news! Robert and Joseph have been taken away! After a call from the prosecutor’s office, then suddenly… those officers broke into our house with an arrest warrant and took Robert and Joseph away. Worse still, over 20 law enforcers swarmed the house, thoroughly searching every corner. What should we do, Elmo?”
Sigrid looked desperate. She knew very well that Elmo didn’t get along with Robert and Joseph.
In fact, she wasn’t a fan of Robert’s and Joseph’s arrogance and rudeness. However, they were in charge of the Olson family. Being part of the family, she would benefit nothing if they were put behind bars.
Furthermore, she had been involved in her family’s most recent series of events, such as utilizing special technology to create several fake replicas of paintings for money laundering. Now that her home was under careful surveillance by law enforcement, she’d definitely be caught red-handed if word got out about her involvement in the scam.

An uninterested Elmo feigned shock and said, “They were taken away? Just now? How is that possible? What crime have these innocent angels committed?”
Paisley grew anxious. “When they presented the arrest warrant, they claimed multiple charges. I can’t remember what they were exactly. Something along the lines of illegal operations, tax evasion, and capital fraud. Your father fainted upon learning this. We’re not in Morbach, so your mother is currently looking after him. We have no idea what exactly is going on.”
Elmo’s eyes narrowed, his surprise growing as he learned that Andrew had passed out, an unexpected twist of events.
Andrew had been as sturdy as an oak tree throughout his life, weathering countless encounters with women without falling ill. He, of all people, must have known what kind of men Robert and Joseph were. There was nothing to be surprised about.
“I’ll dial up my mother and inquire about my father’s condition,” Elmo said, producing his phone, ready to call Ann Smith.
However, before he could make the call, Paisley stopped him. “No, getting Joseph and Robert out of that jail won’t be as simple as a Sunday stroll in the park. If your father were to meet his end at this point, the matter of inheritance would swiftly take center stage. At that juncture… Elmo, you’re with us, aren’t you? You have been chummy with Sigrid since childhood. Once we secure the inheritance, the CEO’s chair could be yours. We won’t skimp on you.”
