Chapter 32
[ 530 words ]
Chapter 32:
“I just don’t want to keep seeing you and Ivy at the company every single day after this ends,” I said, drawing in a deep breath and looking straight at him. “I don’t want to keep acting like we’re some happy couple in front of your family. It’s exhausting. Ethan, can’t you just let me go?”
“Let you go?” Ethan looked like the words had set him off. He suddenly lunged forward, boxing me in between his chest and the headboard with both arms.
His eyes blazed with fury, and his voice dropped into something dark and threatening. “I don’t believe for a second that you plan to travel. You just want to be with Frank, don’t you?”
He gave a mocking scoff, his voice dripping with scorn. “Lianne, I never knew you could move on this fast. You can’t even wait until we’re over before throwing yourself at another man?”
“You…” I was trembling with fury, every buried feeling inside me finally breaking loose.

Why? Why did he get to question me while still carrying the filthy proof of his own betrayal? Why could he cheat so brazenly and still make me out to be the one in the wrong?
“You’re right!” I screamed, breaking apart as tears spilled down my face. “I am going to be with him! Frank is kinder than you, and he trusts me more. He would never force me to toast another woman, and he definitely would not come back wearing another woman’s lipstick and make me sick to my stomach.”
I slammed both hands against his chest with all the strength I had, pouring every last grievance into that shove. “Ethan, what right do you have to control me? You get to chase after Ivy, get tangled up with her, but I’m not allowed to like someone else? I’m not allowed to go after my own happiness?”
Lianne’s POV:
After I blurted those words out, Ethan’s demeanor immediately hardened, and without hesitation, he yanked me into his arms.
I tried to push him away, but his grip only tightened, making escape impossible.
“Let me go! Ethan, you don’t have the right to control me!” I hissed, my words trembling with fury.
Ethan’s lips curled into a cruel smile as he leaned in closer, his voice a low whisper that sent a shiver down my spine. “No right? Lianne, do you really not remember? As long as the bond remains, you belong to me. You should be by my side, not out there with another man.”
I tore myself from his embrace, my hands clutching at the blanket as I wrapped it tightly around myself. Frustration bubbled up inside me, and I kicked the bed with force.
A sharp jolt of pain shot up from my ankle, and a gasp escaped me, tears welling up in my eyes.
Ethan’s icy expression faltered, his gaze softening. Instinctively, he reached for the blanket, lifting it to gently hold my injured ankle.
“What happened? Did you hurt it again?” His voice, though stiff, betrayed his concern, and his brow furrowed in a rare show of worry.
With a tearful nod, I bit down on my lip, the pain in my ankle rivaling the anguish twisting in my chest.
