Chapter 181:
There was a trace of curiosity in Jeremy’s gaze as he looked at me. “How have things been between you and Ethan recently?”
“For now, things are fairly peaceful,” I admitted.
But I knew perfectly well that this so-called peace was only the calm before the storm.
Ivy was not the kind of person who would willingly let go of Ethan or give up the position of Luna without a fight.
Jeremy exhaled, sounding relieved. “That’s good. I’m genuinely happy for you. To be honest, Ethan is someone who takes feelings very seriously. When that happened to Ivy, there was no way he could simply ignore it. The fact that you can understand that means you really have forgiven him.”
I froze, staring at him in bewilderment. “That happened? What happened to Ivy?”
Jeremy’s smile instantly stiffened, and he looked at me with open surprise. “Ethan never told you?”
I shook my head, while my heartbeat suddenly sped up for no clear reason. Ethan had almost never brought up Ivy’s past in front of me.

Jeremy seemed to realize he had let something slip. He frowned, looking regretful. But when he saw I had no intention of dropping the subject, he let out a sigh and finally said, “After Ivy left Ethan, she was abducted overseas by a group of rogue wolves. Those wolves were savage by nature, and she suffered horribly during that time. It left her with severe psychological trauma. Ethan has always believed that if he had protected her better, or if he had never let her leave in the first place, none of that would have happened.”
Shock widened my eyes, and for a moment, my mind emptied completely.
Abducted by a pack of rogue wolves? Severe psychological trauma?
I stood there as a cold shiver crept through me. I had never expected someone as fragile-looking as Ivy to have such a violent, blood-soaked past behind her.
And yet, deep inside, a small thread of suspicion still surfaced. Was it really true, or just another story crafted to win sympathy?
Before I could press for more, someone not far away called Jeremy’s name. He hurriedly said goodbye and left at once.
I remained outside the restroom, my thoughts in complete turmoil.
If it was true, then Ethan’s guilt toward Ivy, and the favoritism that came with it, might never fully disappear.
That evening, the mood at the dinner table at home felt faintly strained.
I sat across from Ethan with a spoon in hand, but no matter what, I couldn’t bring myself to take a single bite.
I kept stealing glances at him, but every time our eyes met, the words caught in my throat.
At last, Ethan set down his cutlery and looked straight at me. “Lianne, you’ve looked at me several times tonight. If you want to ask something, then ask.”
I paused briefly, drew in a breath, and finally said, “What exactly happened between you and Ivy back then? I mean after she left.”
