Chapter 870:
Lianne’s POV
In the days Ethan vanished from reach, I felt like I was drifting without anchor.
My work suffered; mistakes multiplied like weeds.
I filed financial reports into the wrong folders, lost track of meetings, and sat blank-faced until Alex called my name twice to pull me back to the present.
As I stared at Ethan’s gray, offline icon on Voss Group’s internal system, worry gnawed at my chest.

I couldn’t stop wondering: had he managed any rest? Was anyone looking after him? Had he eaten a single proper meal?
I knew this ache too intimately.
When I left the Thorn Pack, I’d felt like the world had lost its color. The only thread keeping me tethered was the two small lives growing inside me.
Now Ethan was drowning in that same grief, and I stood helpless on the shore. That powerlessness was a torment I couldn’t escape.
I couldn’t concentrate anymore, so I asked Alex for leave.
One look at my ghost-white face, and he waved me off without a single question.
After gathering my things, I lingered in the hallway, torn. Finally, I pulled out my phone and dialed Ethan’s number.
A cold, robotic voice informed me his phone was off.
Strangely, a sliver of relief washed over me. If his phone was off, maybe he was sleeping, and that was better than him lying awake, consumed by pain.
As I made my way out, I saw Noah.
He was rushing past with an armful of files but paused when he spotted me. “Lianne? I thought you took leave. Why are you still here?”
“I need your help with something.” I stepped closer. “If you manage to reach Ethan, please let me know.”
Noah’s face softened just slightly. “Alpha has been holed up in his office at the company. Hasn’t gone home in days.”
My heart dropped. So Ethan had been at Voss Group this whole time.
But he hadn’t said a word to me.
Lianne’s POV
After thanking Noah, I headed for the elevator and pressed the button for the executive office on the top floor.
When the elevator doors slid open, the hallway was shrouded in silence. I walked to the familiar office, took a steadying breath, and entered the passcode.
With a soft click, the lock disengaged. I pushed the door open and stepped inside.
The office was dim, the curtains drawn tightly shut. Only a floor lamp in the corner gave off a faint, warm glow.
I spotted Ethan the moment I walked in.
He was asleep on the sofa, lying on his side with one arm tucked beneath his head while the other hung loosely over the edge. Even in sleep, his brows remained faintly furrowed. His shirt was creased, the top two buttons undone, and dark stubble had begun to cover his jaw.
He had become so thin that my heart ached at the sight.
But the crushing worry that had weighed on me for days finally eased. As long as I could see with my own eyes that he was safe, I could finally breathe again.
