Chapter 756:
I took Harry’s phone, deleted the familiar number from his call history, and returned it to him.
“Harry, thank you for letting me borrow your phone. But don’t spend any more time worrying about me. I’m not worth it.”
After saying that, I turned and walked away without looking back.
From the corner of my eye, I noticed Harry hesitate, as though he wanted to come after me. Before he could take a step, the black sedan parked along the curb suddenly pulled onto the road, cutting off his path at the perfect moment and preventing him from following me.
I quickened my steps and disappeared into the darkness at the end of the street.
After running into Harry again, I gave up on going to another bar. Borrowing someone else’s phone in a drunken state to call Ethan, a man who had already moved on, might have been forgivable once. Doing the same thing a second time would only make me look even more pathetic.

I didn’t want to lose control again. More than that, I didn’t want Ethan to see me as a desperate, emotionally unstable woman who couldn’t let go.
But the pain inside me stayed intense, like an itch buried deep in my bones that I could never reach.
In the end, I decided to buy some alcohol and take it back to my apartment. I could lock the door, pull the curtains shut, and drink alone in that small, silent room. Even if I ended up drinking until I passed out, at least I wouldn’t disturb Ethan anymore.
I grabbed a shopping cart at a twenty-four-hour supermarket and made my way straight to the liquor section.
I had just placed a few bottles of craft beer and a bottle of vodka into the cart when my phone rang. It was Tracy.
“Lianne, are you home yet? I just had a dream that you fell, and it frightened me so much that I had to call and make sure you were okay.” Her sleepy voice was soft, carrying the warmth of genuine concern.
“Almost. I’m just picking up a few things at the supermarket,” I replied softly. As I listened to her go on about making sure I locked my doors and reminding me to call if I needed anything, my heart grew warm.
Having Tracy by my side in this lifetime felt like one of the Moon Goddess’s greatest blessings, a priceless gift I would cherish forever.
Lianne’s POV
After ending the call, I wheeled my shopping cart toward the checkout counter.
“I’m sorry,” the cashier said, glancing uneasily at the alcohol in my cart. “Customers can only buy two bottles of beer each, and we’re not selling any liquor or wine at the moment. The system has blocked those items.”
I stood there in stunned silence for a second. “What? There’s a purchase limit? I’ve never heard of a supermarket doing something like this.”
