Chapter 429:
Taking my seat at the table, I carefully separated a piece of snow-white fish and meticulously removed every tiny bone.
Then, with smooth and practiced movements, I placed the fish onto Silas’s plate.
“Eat,” I said gently. “Be careful. It’s still hot.”
Throughout the entire time, I could feel a complicated gaze fixed on the two of us.
Ethan’s POV
I raised my eyes and saw Lianne seated across from me, holding her cutlery without touching her food.

Her head was lowered, and her eyes carried a faint redness, as though what she had witnessed had touched a painful place deep inside her.
I knew exactly what was running through her mind. She was thinking about the three years we had lost. She was asking herself whether, if those misunderstandings had never happened, we would have already been living like this long ago.
A short while later, she suddenly pushed back her chair and stood. Her voice sounded rough and strained. “I’m going to the bathroom.”
I watched her leave in a hurry, visibly unsettled. My chest tightened, and my first instinct was to go after her.
“Daddy.”
At that moment, Silas tugged on my sleeve.
His large eyes gleamed with mischief as he lowered his voice and asked directly, “Are you trying to make Mommy stay here tonight?”
I paused and said nothing, but my silence was answer enough.
“I can be of help,” Silas responded, laying out his conditions. “But you have to provide me access to the Voss Group’s internal backend system. I need total administrator control.”
I had to acknowledge just how ambitious he truly was.
The Voss Group’s backend held the secrets of our entire pack and our global business empire. But he was my son. It was fine to give him access. One day, all of it would be his anyway.
“Deal,” I agreed immediately.
Silas looked surprised by how readily I accepted. He stayed quiet for a moment before cautiously asking another question. “If you ever find another mate or start a new family, will you break your promise? Will you throw Mommy and me away?”
Setting my utensils down, I reached over and gently stroked his soft hair.
“Silas, listen carefully.” I met his eyes and spoke with absolute sincerity. “Your mommy will be my only mate for the rest of my life. That is the sacred will of the Moon Goddess. She is my destined mate. Without her, I would spend my life alone. I will never betray her, and I will never betray you.”
I was profoundly grateful to the Moon Goddess for granting me this second chance.
Not a single night had passed during those three years without me despising myself. All I ever wanted was to have her back.
And now she stood right before me. I had regained her. And on top of that, I had found out she’d had Silas and our daughter, still waiting overseas.
Everything felt so perfect, like a delicate dream that could break apart at any moment.
I treasured it with all my heart, yet fear constantly haunted me.
