Chapter 573:
My heart skipped a beat, and my fingers tightened around the fabric of my shirt. “Maybe… maybe he’s attending a meeting offline,” I said weakly. “Or perhaps he’s using a private system?”
“Mommy, he’s the Alpha. Nobody in the company outranks him.” Silas closed the laptop with a soft snap. “If he were in a meeting, the secretarial team and IT department would be coordinating everything around him. There would definitely be some kind of digital record.”
Then, with the blunt honesty only a child could possess, he blurted out another painful possibility, “I think Dad might be seeing someone else. Or maybe… he just doesn’t want to come home.”
“Silas! Don’t say things like that!” I snapped at him sharply.

It wasn’t because I feared Ethan had another woman. I knew him too well. There was no place in his heart for anyone except me.
What truly frightened me was something else entirely. What if something had happened to him, and he was deliberately keeping it from me? Or worse… what if he had found out the secret I had been trying so hard to conceal?
I called Ethan three more times in a row. Each call went unanswered.
At last, I clenched my jaw and called Noah again.
This time, the composure in Noah’s voice was gone. He sounded tense, almost panicked. “Lianne.”
“Noah, I’m asking one last time. Where is Ethan?” I stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, staring into the endless darkness outside. My voice was cold enough to freeze the air. “And don’t tell me he’s in a meeting. Silas already checked the company’s system. He’s not at Voss Group.”
“Well… Alpha… he really…” Noah stumbled over his words, struggling to come up with an explanation. The poorly constructed lie instantly set every alarm in my head ringing.
“If you won’t tell me, then I’ll find him myself.”
I ended the call, snatched the car keys from the entryway, and ignored the pain pulsing through my swollen ankle. Moments later, I was behind the wheel of the spare SUV, driving straight toward Voss Group headquarters.
In the middle of the night, the building stood against the dark sky like a giant beast forged from steel and glass.
Using my access card, I entered the building and headed directly for the executive floor.
The place was completely deserted. As I walked through the corridor, only the motion-sensitive lights flickered on one after another. The silence was overwhelming, and there wasn’t the slightest indication that any meeting had been held there. I pushed open the door to the CEO’s office. Darkness greeted me. The faint scent of cedar still lingered in the room, carrying traces of Ethan’s presence, but the office was empty. No one was inside.
I was consumed with anger and fear.
I immediately dialed Noah’s number again. This time, I gave him no chance to evade the question.
“Noah, I’m standing in Ethan’s office right now. If you don’t tell me the truth this second, I’ll take the children and leave. And he’ll never see any of us again.”
