Chapter 149:
A second later, he planted an arm against the door, the muscles under his suit sleeve drawing tight with the unmistakable force and authority of an Alpha.
“Lianne, hear me out. We have to talk.” His voice came out low and hoarse.
“There’s nothing for us to talk about!” I said through clenched teeth, using all my strength to hold the door in place.
With a heavy crash, the door was pushed open anyway.
Ethan walked in and flicked the door shut behind him with one hand, blocking Bella’s curious look from outside.
“About that night. I can explain what really happened.” He took a step toward me and reached for my hand.
“Explain?” I let out a cold laugh and retreated at once, avoiding his hand.

I looked at him, my voice emotionless. “There’s no need. Whatever explanation you have means nothing to me.”
I turned around and headed for the bedroom, cramming my things into the suitcase in a frantic mess.
The moment he entered this room, the air began to feel suffocating.
“Either you go, or I will. Since you’re so attached to this room, you can keep it.”
“Lianne!” A growl broke from him as he covered the distance between us in several long strides.
He caught me from behind and cinched an arm hard around my waist, pinning me against his chest.
That domineering scent I knew so well crashed over my senses at once.
His chest was wide and scorching, and through the thin layer of fabric between us, I could feel the violent thud of his heartbeat and the sharp, oppressive heat unique to an Alpha.
“Let go of me!” I fought him fiercely, pushing hard at the arms trapping me.
“I’m not letting go!” He pulled me even tighter and buried his face against the hollow of my neck, his voice rough and muffled. “What do I have to do to make you listen to me? That day, I really didn’t know.”
“Didn’t know what?” I stopped fighting and let him keep holding me, but my voice went cold as ice. “That Liam would humiliate me like that? Or how desperate I was then?”
I turned in his hold and faced him head-on.
His hands were still locked tightly around my waist, and the forced closeness made my stomach churn.
“This is my room. Leave right now, or I’ll call the police,” I said, enunciating every word.
“You’d rather call the police than listen to even one word I have to say?” Ethan’s eyes grew darker, and a brief flash of hurt passed through them.
“That’s right! I’ve had enough of your excuses!”
All the hurt, fury, and hopelessness I had been forcing down finally exploded in that instant.
The moment I looked at his face, I was yanked straight back into that nightmare of a night.
Panic and helplessness crashed over me all at once, and before I could think, I lifted my hand and struck that unbearably handsome face.
The crisp smack echoed through the silent suite.
My palm stung, even quivering a little.
Even I went still, shocked by what I had just done.
