Chapter 416:
Before I could react, Silas instantly changed expressions. He yanked his hand from mine and pointed at me angrily, his cheeks red with fake frustration. “I don’t like her! Daddy, why did you bring this woman here? Make her leave! I don’t want her around!”
The irritation in his voice sounded so real that even I nearly fell for it.
Ethan walked out moments later, an apron tied around his waist while a white towel rested in his hands.
He arched an eyebrow and looked from me to Silas, then back again, before his gaze finally landed on Silas’s sulky little face.
“Silas, behave yourself.” Ethan’s voice remained level, yet the authority behind it was impossible to ignore. “Lianne came here to eat. She’s our guest.”
“I don’t care! If she stays, I won’t eat!” Silas snapped back. He dramatically tossed his laptop onto the couch like a child ready to explode into a tantrum. “You promised you wouldn’t bring random women home! You lied! You’re such a liar!”
I stood nearby, watching his exaggerated performance while trying not to laugh despite my nervousness.

The boy could probably fool professional actors.
I just prayed Ethan would believe it too.
As Silas continued his dramatic fit, I took a deep breath and slowly rose to my feet, forcing my voice to sound cool and distant. “Ethan, since your son clearly dislikes me, I’ll wait in the car instead. I don’t want to interrupt your time together.”
I expected Ethan to stop me. Someone as possessive as him should have insisted I stay.
Instead, he answered flatly, “Fine.”
The moment I stepped outside the house, a chill still clung to my back. The sunlight fell over me, doubts lingering in my mind.
Ethan had gone through absurd lengths to bring me here. He had even taken over my former company just to investigate my relationship with Silas.
Yet after bringing me inside, he barely paid attention to either of us. He simply cooked as though nothing mattered. Something about it felt absolutely off.
A top-tier Alpha like Ethan never acted without purpose. Every move he made felt like an inescapable trap.
And the calmer he appeared, the more unease spread through me.
I sat anxiously inside the car for nearly thirty minutes before the mansion’s gates finally opened again.
Ethan walked out wearing his usual black suit, the apron long gone. An elegant paper bag rested in his hand.
He entered the driver’s seat and handed it over casually.
“Take it. I packed this for you.” His deep voice carried the same commanding tone as always.
“No, thanks. I don’t want it.” I instinctively leaned away from the bag like it might burn me. “I’m not hungry. I’ll eat after work.”
“Eat.” Ethan turned toward me slowly, danger flickering inside his eyes. “Or would you rather I feed you myself?”
Lianne’s POV
After a moment’s pause, I clenched my jaw and took the bag.
Compared to three years ago, Ethan’s temper had become far more unstable. Arguing with him over something this small would only make things worse.
