Chapter 855:
I could only desperately hope that Lianne would be able to hold on.
When Melisa finally arrived at the hospital, I didn’t waste time explaining anything. I pushed her straight into the emergency room.
At this moment, Melisa was the only person who truly understood the components of the poison inside Lianne’s body. She was the only one capable of finding a solution quickly enough. She was the only person who could save her.
Once again, the emergency room doors closed in front of me.
I remained outside, listening to the machines beeping rapidly and the sharp commands of the medical staff inside. Every passing second felt unbearably long, as though time had slowed to a crawl.
About twenty minutes later, the doors suddenly flew open.
Melisa hurried out. Her lab coat sleeves were smeared with blood, and beads of sweat covered her forehead.
In one hand, she held a freshly printed report. Her expression was grim.
“Ethan, have you been giving her the antidote according to schedule?” Her voice carried a clear note of accusation as she pressed me for an answer. “Her blood concentration is abnormal. The poison’s rebound is much worse than we expected.”
I gritted my teeth. “Every time she took the antidote, I was there and watched her swallow it. She never missed a dose.”
Melisa looked down at the report, her brows drawing together in deep confusion. “Then this doesn’t make any sense. This shouldn’t be happening.”

I could no longer contain the fury raging inside me.
I stepped forward, allowing my Alpha aura to radiate without restraint. The atmosphere in the hallway instantly became suffocating, as though the air itself had frozen.
Melisa’s face grew even paler, and she instinctively retreated a step.
“Melisa, listen to me.” My voice was cold and razor-sharp. “If anything happens to Lianne, I’ll make sure you pay dearly. I don’t make empty threats.”
Melisa bit her lip. After a few seconds, she said in a soft voice, “Don’t worry. No one understands that better than I do. My life is tied to hers. If she doesn’t survive, you will kill me without a doubt. Her life and mine are connected.”
With that, she turned around and hurried back into the emergency room.
I stood rooted to the spot, my hands still clenched tightly into fists.
It wasn’t long before Jeremy arrived at the hospital.
He walked straight toward me. His eyes immediately fell on the dried blood covering my shirt, and his pupils shrank. “How is Lianne?”
“She’s still in surgery,” I answered, my voice hoarse and strained.
Jeremy fell silent for a few seconds, then muttered, “Ethan, you should send Melisa to prison. She deliberately poisoned Lianne. That’s attempted murder, and it’s more than enough to have her imprisoned for life.”
