Chapter 710:
With my back turned toward him, I quietly sulked, refusing to look at the man who clearly had no idea what restraint meant.
Realizing he had pushed me too far, Ethan slipped in behind me and wrapped me securely in his arms. His warm lips brushed my shoulder as he murmured softly, “I’m sorry, Lianne. Let me help you get cleaned up, okay?”
The memory of the last time, when he had trapped me against the bathroom wall, flashed through my mind. It immediately made me wary, and I firmly refused to bathe with him again.
Only after he solemnly promised he would not do anything reckless did I reluctantly put my arms around his neck and allow him to carry me into the bathroom.
Beneath the steady stream of warm water, he gently washed my hair.

Although I could feel the restraint in every tense muscle in his body, he kept his promise and never crossed the line.
When he carried me back to bed, I was utterly drained, but my mind refused to rest.
Ethan had planned to finish reviewing a few urgent contracts, but the moment he noticed I seemed distracted, he closed his laptop. He pulled me gently into his arms, choosing me over work.
“What’s wrong?” he asked in a soft, reassuring tone. “Can’t sleep?”
Lianne’s POV:
I smiled and gently shook my head, snuggling deeper into Ethan’s arms. “I just wanted to spend some time talking to you. Every other time, I’d end up falling asleep. It feels like I’ve never really stayed awake long enough to keep you company.”
He pressed a soft kiss to my forehead, then sat up against the headboard and opened his laptop to finish some work.
Lying on my side, I quietly watched him, taking in the sight of his calm, focused profile.
For a fleeting moment, it felt as though we had returned to those peaceful days, when life was simple and safe, untouched by malice or cruelty, and all we had was each other.
Then Philip’s cold voice echoed through my mind.
“If you drop the charges against Rola, I give you my word that you and Ethan will find your way back to each other.”
The meaning behind everything suddenly fell into place.
Thorn Pack’s so-called acceptance of me was never sincere.
It was part of a bargain. They only wanted me to drop the charges against Rola, disguising their true intentions behind a fragile illusion of peace.
A bitter smile tugged at my lips as I slowly closed my eyes.
Without Ethan standing beside me, an ordinary she-wolf like me could never survive in a place as ruthless as Thorn Pack, where only the strong could live without fear.
Even that vital surveillance footage from before had been part of Ivy’s carefully planned trap. If Ethan hadn’t relied on advanced technology to recover the damaged recording, I wouldn’t have had any evidence to use against Rola.
From the beginning, the love we fought so hard to protect had been intertwined with power and hatred.
