Chapter 490:
“Stop! Don’t say another word!” My face burned with embarrassment as I repeatedly tried to shut him up.
“Lianne, help me.” He looked at me with a pitiful expression, like a wounded animal begging for comfort. “When you weren’t here, I could keep the desire in check through sheer willpower. But now you’re right beside me. Your scent, your body… they’re driving me insane. I can’t keep holding back.”
“I was drunk back then… I would never do something like that if I were sober,” I muttered weakly, making one last attempt to defend myself.
“Then turn off the lights, close your eyes, and pretend you’re drunk again,” he murmured softly. His large hand slid along my wrist, his soft touch sending shivers through me. “I’ll be careful. I won’t make my injury worse. Lianne, don’t push me away.”
I met his gaze and saw an intensity so fierce it almost felt obsessive. Then I glanced at my injured left leg, my heart caught in a storm of conflicting emotions.
Still, deep down, I knew there was no escaping Ethan once he became as stubborn and relentless as a predator fixated on his prey.

Cornered, I felt my resistance slowly crumble under his devoted gaze.
“Will… will it hurt? I mean your injury,” I asked hesitantly, my voice trembling.
“You’re the best medicine for my pain,” he replied with a soft chuckle, his voice warm and reassuring.
I had assumed his serious injuries would make him more restrained. But I had clearly underestimated an Alpha’s need for control when it came to things like this. Even confined to bed, even with his movements restricted, he still had many ways to make me give in.
The hospital room lights were dimmed to their lowest setting. Moonlight slipped through the narrow gaps in the curtains, scattering silver shadows across the room.
“Kiss me…” Ethan said with urgency, moving closer.
Before I could answer, his warm breath brushed against my face, and his lips met mine.
We kissed our way back to the bed, shedding our clothes completely.
He held me firmly against the mattress. In the darkness, every sensation grew more intense. All I could hear was the sound of us breathing hard.
Ethan held me close, claiming me over and over again.
He drew me through overwhelming waves of pleasure, and through it all, he stayed so careful, so gentle, never once putting pressure on his wounds.
By the time the first light of dawn crept into the room, I was completely exhausted. I drifted almost immediately into deep sleep.
The next morning, a series of calm, measured knocks woke us.
“Alpha, Ms. Riley, it’s time to change the bandages,” Melisa called from outside.
I sat upright at once, but the sudden movement tugged painfully at my injured leg, making me gasp.
“Easy.” Ethan reached out and steadied me. His eyes were still heavy with sleep, carrying a lingering softness from the night before. He even lifted a hand to smooth down my messy hair.
