Chapter 767:
“So this is what you’ve been after all along, isn’t it?” she said with a mocking smile. “Getting close to Ethan, trying so hard to become part of the Thorn Pack, all for this? Lianne, you’re a nobody. What makes you think you can compete with people like us? You lost the lawsuit. Justice? That’s a privilege reserved for those with power.”
My eyes settled on the check, and nausea rose in my stomach.
At that moment, I finally understood just how heartless she truly was. The law couldn’t give me justice, because the rules had always been written for people like her.
“Rola, one day you’ll answer for everything you’ve done.” My voice stayed steady and cold.
I rose from my seat, unwilling to be near her for even another moment.
But the instant I walked past, Rola suddenly reached out, her thin, bony fingers clamping around my wrist with surprising strength.
“Ah!” I cried out as pain shot through my arm. My handbag slipped from my hand, and my phone hit the floor with a sharp crack.

The screen lit up, showing that the voice recorder was still running.
The room fell silent.
Rola’s gaze fixed on the moving audio bars, and a vicious smile slowly spread across her face.
She lifted her heel and stomped down on the phone. A crisp cracking sound echoed through the room as my last hope shattered into broken pieces.
That recording was supposed to be my final piece of evidence against Rola. Now it was gone, and I knew I had failed completely.
“I knew you wouldn’t give up that easily,” she said with a cold sneer, the murderous intent in her eyes no longer needing to be concealed. “But don’t worry. Before karma ever catches up to me, I’ll make sure you’re dead first.”
As soon as she finished speaking, shadowy figures stepped out from the back of the otherwise empty restaurant. They were the Thorn Pack’s elite guards, and in perfect coordination, they closed in and surrounded me instantly.
I looked around, and my heart dropped.
Now I understood why the restaurant was empty, why the lights were so dim. Rola had never come here to negotiate. This was a trap, carefully arranged to take my life.
One of the guards slowly drew a long blade from its sheath. The edge caught a faint blue glow beneath the dim lights, a clear sign it had been coated with deadly silver poison.
For a werewolf, that blade promised only death.
This had been Rola’s plan all along. I was never walking out of here alive.
“I want you to suffer the same agony Ethan went through because of you,” Rola whispered through clenched teeth as she leaned close. “The difference is that he has healing abilities, and my protection. But you…” A cruel smile spread across her face. “I’ll watch you die before I leave. Lianne, you’re on a one-way trip straight to hell.”
I met her distorted expression and let out a bitter laugh. “Rola, you’re a monster. Ethan is a remarkable Alpha, but having a grandmother as cruel as you is his greatest misfortune. I curse you. You’re destined for hell. May you never know peace in this life or the next.”
“Enough! Kill her now!” Rola screamed, her voice shrill with rage.
