Chapter 773:
“I’ll also put an end to Rola’s attempts to hurt you,” he continued, ignoring my words entirely. “From now on, no one will ever lay a hand on you.”
I fought with everything I had to hold back my tears, putting on a cold, indifferent front as I tried to push him away with the cruelest words I could find.
“Why…” His voice was hoarse, carrying a vulnerability that cut straight through my heart. “Why can’t you believe I’m on your side? Lianne… can’t we just start over? Let’s restore our mate bond. Please?”
“Lianne, say yes! Just say yes!” Anna shouted in my mind, roaring with desperate hope, straining against the chains of my reason as she urged me to accept every word he offered.

He had staked his reputation, his position, even his life on me. All he asked was that I take one step toward him.
Lianne’s POV
Reason cut through my emotions like a blade of ice, dragging me back to reality.
As long as I remained by Ethan’s side, Rola’s madness would never end, and neither would the turmoil consuming him.
I was the only flaw in what should have been his perfect life, the weakness everything revolved around.
“No.” I forced the word out as I slowly slipped my hand from his, every syllable sharp enough to wound. “Ethan, compared to this suffocating love you call devotion, all I want is freedom. I’m tired, so tired. I don’t want anything to do with you or your family ever again.”
The last flicker of hope in his eyes died instantly.
In that moment, it was as if someone else had taken his place. Every trace of warmth disappeared, replaced by an unsettling aura that sent chills crawling down my spine.
“Then go.” He closed his eyes, his voice frighteningly calm and empty.
Relief washed over me, yet it felt as though my heart was being ripped apart. I had barely turned to leave when his icy voice echoed behind me again, carrying a terrifying edge of obsession.
“You want freedom? Then listen carefully, Lianne. You’ll never have it, not in this lifetime. If you refuse to stay beside me, I’ll make you. Even if we destroy each other in the process, you’re never leaving my sight.”
“Ethan, you’ve lost your mind! My life belongs to me!” I whirled around in disbelief, staring at the pale man lying on the hospital bed. His dark eyes blazed with a frightening determination that bordered on madness.
He pushed himself upright despite his injuries. Fresh blood quickly soaked through the bandages across his chest, yet he seemed completely oblivious to the pain. Every word that left his lips carried an overwhelming, possessive force. “Your life belongs to you? The moment you walked into my world, you lost any chance of escaping. This is the Moon Goddess’s will, a destiny carved into our bones and written into our blood. Unless I die, I will never stop searching for you. You want freedom? Then you’ll only have it after my heart stops beating.”
