Chapter 822:
He lifted a brow. “Carry my burden?” His eyes burned with quiet determination. “I don’t need another executive. I don’t need more employees either.” His gaze stayed locked on mine. “Lianne… the only woman I want is you.”
My heart trembled. I squeezed his hand firmly and made a promise. “I’ll stay with you forever. Unless one day you’re the one who tells me to leave.”
With that, I picked up the pen. Without hesitation, I crossed out One Year and wrote Forever beside it.
Ethan stared at the word for a moment, surprise flashing across his face before a soft chuckle escaped him. “So you’re really planning to stay forever?” he teased. “Why do I feel like you’re just fooling me?”
“I’m serious.” I met his eyes without wavering. “Watching Tracy and Jeremy made me realize something. I want to learn how to rely on you instead of always pushing you away.” I smiled faintly.
“I know that before, whenever I became more affectionate or took the initiative, it usually meant I was preparing to leave you. That’s why you were always afraid.” I tightened my grip around his hand. “But this time… it’s different.”
Ethan didn’t answer. Instead, he lowered his head and captured my lips in a passionate kiss that said everything words couldn’t.

After composing myself and smoothing out my clothes, I hurried toward the conference room. Just outside the entrance, I ran into Alex.
His eyes widened in disbelief. “Lianne? You’re really back?”
With a polite nod, I confirmed his guess and added in a low voice, “Alex, just treat me like anyone else in the office. I really don’t want to stir up any office gossip.”
After everything that had happened before, I wanted nothing more than to devote myself to my work and quietly remain by Ethan’s side.
The future was still uncertain. But as long as I was holding his hand, I wasn’t afraid to keep walking forward.
Ethan’s POV
I watched Lianne disappear into the conference room before finally looking away and heading toward the elevator.
Without slowing my pace, I instructed Noah behind me. “Keep an eye on the meeting. The moment it ends, let me know.” After a brief pause, I added, “I want to know everything Lianne says… and every change in her mood.”
Leaving the Voss Group headquarters, I drove toward the outskirts of the city.
The restaurant Melisa had chosen stood in an isolated area beyond a stretch of dense woodland, a remote location perfectly suited for secretive dealings.
The moment I parked, I saw Melisa waiting outside.
She wore an understated dress today, clearly trying to appear gentle and harmless. To me, it only made her look even more disgustingly fake.
I stepped out of the car and walked straight toward her.
I didn’t waste a single second on pleasantries. “Where’s the medicine?”
“Ethan…” she said softly, with a forced smile. “It’s windy. Let’s go inside and talk.” She reached for my sleeve.
I avoided her touch without hesitation. “I don’t have time for your games.” My voice was icy. “The only reason you’re still standing here unharmed is that I’m restraining myself. Give me the medicine.”
