Chapter 481:
“He’s truly devoted to you,” Tracy said softly, crouching beside me, pity evident in her voice. “Do you know what happened recently? His pack tried to force him into a marriage alliance with a powerful family. But right in front of all the elders, he publicly declared that his heart already belonged to you. He said nobody except you could ever make him feel that way. He nearly fell out with his family over you.”
A bitter ache spread through my chest. Looking down at my broken body, I couldn’t help feeling completely unworthy of Frank’s sincere and unwavering affection.
“That was his choice, Lianne. None of it is your fault.” Tracy tried to comfort me.
But somehow, her words only made the weight on my heart grow heavier.
“Once Ethan recovers, I’ll disappear completely,” I whispered. “By then, I want Frank to let me go and live his own life. He deserves far better than wasting the rest of his years trapped in this mess because of me.”

As she listened, Tracy’s sharp instincts picked up on the sense of finality in my words, as though I were leaving behind my last wishes.
She abruptly stood and stepped in front of me, forcing me to meet her eyes. “Lianne, you’re hiding something from me, aren’t you?” she demanded. “Those elders from the Thorn Pack would never let you stay by Ethan’s side so easily.”
I avoided her gaze, my fingers tightening around the edge of the blanket.
“I… I struck a deal with Adrian.” I finally confessed under the weight of her gaze, letting out the secret I had buried. “I promised them that once Ethan got better, I would surrender custody of Ruby and Silas and let them go back to the Thorn Pack.”
“Have you completely lost your mind?” Tracy exploded, her voice cutting sharply through the peaceful garden.
She threw her hands into the air, her voice shaking with outrage. “Those bastards from the Thorn Pack! How dare they! You’re the one who raised those children all by yourself. They never lifted a finger to help. Now that they’ve realized how exceptional the kids are, they think they can swoop in and claim them? In their dreams!”
“Tracy, take it easy.” I reached for her hand, my gaze heavy with weary defeat.
“Take it easy? How can I? Those kids are your whole world!”
“But what can I really give them?” I tilted my head back, tears gathering in my eyes even as my voice remained strangely calm. “I know my own limitations. I can give them love, warmth, and care, but I can’t offer them the resources, opportunities, vision, and future that the Thorn Pack can. Silas is destined to become the Alpha of the Thorn Pack. If he stays with me, he’ll have nothing…”
A bitter laugh escaped me as I pointed toward my left leg. “Just look at me. I can’t even protect myself anymore. Do you think I’d let them spend their lives hiding and struggling beside someone as damaged as me? I won’t selfishly keep them by my side and ruin their future.”
Tracy still couldn’t come to terms with it. She stomped her foot in agitation. “But what about Ethan? If he ever finds out, there’s no way he’d go along with this deal! He’d rip the whole pack apart before he’d let you endure something so unjust!”
