Chapter 518

Chapter 518:
I set my phone aside and glanced toward the hospital bed. Sure enough, Ethan, who was supposed to be resting peacefully, had sneakily opened his laptop again.
“Ethan, put the laptop away,” I said, walking over, leaving no room for argument.
His fingers paused over the keyboard. He gave me an innocent smile. “Just one more email.”
“No,” I answered firmly. “Melisa specifically said you need proper rest.”
Before he could protest, I closed the laptop and set it aside. Then I picked up a glass of warm water and a towel. “You’re not going into the bathroom tonight. Your wound can’t get wet. I’ll help you clean up instead.”
Lianne’s POV:
The moment the words left my mouth, Ethan’s expression shifted. His eyes deepened, fixed on me with an intensity that made my pulse skip.
His throat worked as he swallowed before speaking, his voice rough and low. “Lianne, are you absolutely sure about this? Because having you take care of me like this is torture in the best and worst way.”
For a few moments, I simply stared back at him. Then I caught the unmistakable desire flickering in his gaze and finally understood what he was implying.
“Seriously? Is that where your mind went?” I shot him an exasperated look, though the heat creeping into my cheeks completely undermined my attempt at sounding stern.

Lately, Ethan had become impossible. Ever since that night, he seemed determined to recover every moment we’d lost over the past three years, and then some.
Even confined to a hospital bed with injuries, he somehow still managed to make me come whenever he wanted.
“If it’s really that unbearable,” I said with a teasing smile, “I’ll just ask for a male nurse instead. Or maybe Jeremy can help you.”
“Jeremy?” Ethan looked thoroughly offended. “Absolutely not. The only person allowed to touch me is you.”
A laugh escaped before I could stop it. Ignoring his possessiveness, I wrung out the towel and carefully cleaned around the bandages covering his chest, making sure not to disturb them as I wiped over the hard planes of his abdomen.
“Oh, right,” I said casually. “Tracy will probably be leaving soon. Frank has his hands full, and she wants to go back and help him.”
The second Frank’s name surfaced, Ethan’s relaxed posture disappeared. His muscles stiffened, and the room seemed to grow noticeably colder.
“Him again,” he muttered with obvious displeasure.
“Ethan.” I paused and looked at him earnestly. “Don’t do this. If Frank hadn’t been there, the children and I wouldn’t have had such a stable life abroad all these years. He’s not just a friend to me. He’s family.”
Ethan held my gaze for several seconds. Eventually, his resistance crumbled.
Letting out a long sigh, he reached for my wrist and gently tugged me closer.
“Fine,” he said reluctantly. “Let’s stop talking about him.” Then he smoothly changed the subject. “As for whether to bring Ruby and Silas here, I’ll leave that entirely up to you. If you say yes, I’ll have a private jet arranged immediately.”
I fell silent.
