Chapter 33:
Without another word, he carefully unwrapped the bloodied bandage, tenderly cleaning the wound with saline before applying a cooling ointment.
His hands massaged the swollen area, and the cooling sensation of the ointment eased the burning pain. But the warmth of his touch left me disoriented.
My thoughts drifted back to how this affection would soon be lavished on another woman. The ache in my heart, far deeper than the physical pain, nearly overwhelmed me.
“I won’t accept your resignation,” he said, his tone firm as he finished wrapping a new bandage. “Sparkle is your creation. You owe it to yourself to see it succeed.”

I sighed deeply, closing my eyes and unwilling to argue further.
Later that evening, after dinner, Ethan disappeared into the study to handle business matters, leaving me alone. I went upstairs to freshen up, but as I passed the round table in the bedroom, a brown folder caught my eye.
At first, I thought it was just company paperwork Ethan had brought home. But as I drew closer and read the label, my heart skipped a beat.
It was a medical file from Maplewood Memorial Hospital, a renowned facility for treating werewolves. The name on the file was Ivy Brooks.
Was Ivy sick? Was this why Ethan was so protective of her?
A swirl of curiosity and unease gripped me as I reached for the cold file.
But pride stopped me from delving deeper.
Peeking into someone else’s privacy wasn’t my style. Besides, if this was a secret between them, I would rather remain in the dark.
I turned and stepped into the bathroom. By the time I returned, the file was gone, as though it had never been there.
The next morning, I limped downstairs, still nursing my injured ankle. Ethan was already at the dining table, reading the newspaper. His demeanor was cold and distant.
“Shall we finalize the paperwork to end our bond today?” I asked casually, as if it were a simple inquiry about the weather.
Ethan glanced up from his paper, his voice detached. “I’m heading out for a business trip today to handle some disputes in the northern territory. We’ll deal with it when I return.”
More waiting.
After he left, I stayed home for the next two days. During that time, I found myself idly browsing through social media.
Then something caught my eye—a trending post with the hashtag #SparkleBTSPhotosLeak.
I clicked on the link, and a flood of insider photos popped up from the shoot.
Ivy was wearing heavy, mismatched smoky makeup that completely overpowered the jewelry she was supposed to be showcasing, making her look bizarre.
The comment section erupted.
“Is this the endorser Voss Group chose? Is this seriously the look?”
“Who sabotaged Ivy? This doesn’t look right!”
“This project manager is a joke!”
I could feel my hands trembling with anger as I read the comments.
