Chapter 810:
I nodded, turning my gaze toward the bright sunshine beyond the window. Peace settled quietly over me as a small smile curved across my lips. “When this busy period is finally over, I’m going to tell him how I really feel. We’re going to build a happy life together.”
Lianne’s POV
The moment I stepped through the front door, I found Ruby and Silas sitting on the rug, completely absorbed in stacking colorful blocks together.
Watching the concentration written across their tiny faces, shame quietly settled over my heart.
For days, I had buried myself in resentment. Somewhere along the way, I had neglected the people who mattered most, especially these two innocent children.
I intended to find Ethan right away and tell him I no longer wanted to pursue legal action against Rola. But when I reached the entrance to the sitting room, I spotted him standing before the towering windows.
He faced the glass with his back to me, one palm resting against the frame while he spoke into his phone in a quiet tone.

His brows were drawn tight, and every part of him carried an unmistakable heaviness, as though an enormous problem rested squarely on his shoulders.
Not wanting to interrupt while he was already weighed down, I silently backed away, deciding it would be better to wait until he’d finished.
Instead, I went upstairs, freshened up, slipped into a comfortable silk lounge outfit, and quietly settled on the edge of the bed to wait for him.
It wasn’t long before the bedroom door opened and Ethan stepped inside, bringing the lingering cold from outdoors with him.
“Are you going back out?” I asked, noticing him reach for his car keys. Rising quickly, I walked over and automatically smoothed the rumpled edge of his shirt collar. “Don’t push yourself too hard. Remember to look after yourself.”
He stopped, a faint grin touching his lips. Wrapping his fingers around mine, he looked at me warmly. “Are you worried about me?”
Before I could answer, he crouched without warning, one broad hand gently supporting my ankle. With patient care, he slipped my slippers back onto my feet.
“There you go, barefoot again.” Rising to his full height, he lightly pinched my cheek, equal parts teasing and scolding. “If you keep doing this, I’ll replace every carpet in this house with ones covered in spikes.”
After he left, I climbed into bed, but sleep refused to come. I shifted from one side to the other while an uneasy feeling continued to grow inside me.
Eventually, Melisa came to mind. After wrestling with myself for a long time, I ignored Ethan’s warning from the previous night and sent her a text.
Melisa, Ethan may have sounded harsh yesterday evening. He was only worried because of my condition. Please don’t hold it against him. I hope you can forgive him.
The message disappeared into silence, and no response ever came.
With a soft breath, I decided I would remind Ethan later that asking someone for medical help required a bit of courtesy. He couldn’t keep approaching people with the commanding attitude of an Alpha all the time.
Without realizing when it happened, I drifted off on the sofa.
