Chapter 882

Chapter 882:
My grip on the steering wheel tightened.
In that instant, the possessiveness I had been suppressing broke free, along with the overwhelming threat clawing at my heart.
I could accept carrying every ounce of pain by myself. I could even force myself to stay away from the woman I loved. But I would never stand by and watch someone take advantage of my absence to pursue what was mine.
“Go to the hospital immediately and keep watch,” I ordered, my voice cold and commanding. “Don’t let Frank use this chance to get close to Lianne.”
Jeremy let out a helpless sigh. “Do we really have to go this far?”
“Just do it,” I interrupted, leaving no room for discussion. After ending the call, I leaned back in my seat, shut my eyes, and took a long, deep breath. Even if I was pretending to stay away from Lianne, I would never allow another man even the smallest opportunity to get close to her.
Lianne was mine. No matter what happened, she would only ever belong with me.

Lianne’s POV:
I had never forgotten how delicate my position was. I knew visiting Frank would be awkward.
The memory of Lucy publicly humiliating me was still vivid. The sting from her slap had disappeared long ago, but the shame of being scolded in front of everyone remained as painful as ever.
I dreaded running into Lucy or Jane again. The last thing I wanted was to create even more unnecessary conflict.
So I asked Tracy to check on Frank first. When she confirmed that he was by himself, I picked up some fruit and nutritional supplements and made my way to the hospital.
When I stepped into the room, I was surprised to see Jeremy sitting inside.
He was relaxed in a chair by the corner, casually holding a cup of coffee as though he had been there for quite some time.
Tracy stood beside him. The moment she saw me, she teased, “Don’t you think he’s acting weird? He suddenly insisted on coming to the hospital and wouldn’t leave no matter what I said. I thought he wasn’t feeling well, but he claimed he came to help me take care of Frank.”
I hesitated briefly, then smiled to ease the awkwardness. “Maybe he just doesn’t want to be apart from you. That’s why he insists on staying here.”
Tracy shot him an exasperated look, but the blush creeping onto her ears gave her away. Pushing those distracting thoughts aside, I walked over to Frank’s bed, set the fruit on the bedside table, and asked gently, “Frank, how are you feeling?”
Frank rested against the raised headboard. His face was still pale, but he looked far better than before.
The moment our eyes met, a complicated emotion flickered across his face. He forced a small smile and said, “I’m much better now. The doctor said I should be able to leave the hospital in a few days.”
