Chapter 304

Chapter 304:
Every now and then, she would show up in front of me, crying uncontrollably, apologizing again and again for what she had done to Lianne, trying to salvage the engagement that had been destroyed long ago.
But I would never forgive her. If not for her, Lianne would never have left, and my child would never have…
“If it’s neither Ivy nor Lianne, then this wedding announcement is nothing but a front,” Jeremy said confidently, staring straight at me. “You’re using it to cut Ivy off for good and to shut the shareholders up, aren’t you?”
I offered no denial, which was answer enough.
“Ethan, have you really let Lianne go?” Jeremy asked in a low voice from the doorway before he left.
A dull ache passed through my chest, and a bitter curve touched my mouth. “She was the one who walked away from me first. I only happened to hear how her life has been lately. She’s doing well. She has a thriving career and a fresh start. So what right do I have to bother her?”
Jeremy slowly shook his head, disbelief plain in his eyes. “That had better be the truth, Ethan. You might be able to deceive everyone else, but you can’t deceive yourself. You’re obviously still not over her.”
After he was gone, a heavy silence settled over the office.
I leaned back in my chair, drained, while my mind was filled with the image of Lianne collapsing on the construction site, hurt and covered in blood.
At that moment, Noah’s voice sounded through the mind link, cutting through the stillness. “Ms. Riley has recovered and has already left the hospital. Also, the werewolves who attacked her that day were transferred to Gamma Prison under your orders. They will never be released.”
I said nothing.

It seemed that everyone could see through the disguise I wore.
Even though I had insisted on letting go and told Noah to stop digging into anything related to Lianne, he still kept watch over her in silence, fully aware that I could never truly turn away from news of her.
“You don’t need to bring these matters to me again in the future.” I forced down the chaos in my chest and gave the order coldly.
“Understood.” Noah hesitated for a moment, and when he spoke again, uncertainty had crept into his voice. “There is something else. Ms. Riley’s friend Tracy seems to have gotten married and had a child during these past few years. She brought a little girl, around three years old, to see Ms. Riley at the hospital today. They appeared very close.”
Tracy’s child?
“I’ve already pulled the hospital surveillance footage. Do you want to watch it?” Noah asked carefully.
I turned it down. Someone else’s child had nothing to do with me, after all.
And yet, regret still rose uncontrollably inside me. If only the child Lianne and I had had survived…
Lianne’s POV:
I stayed in the hospital for just one night and insisted on being discharged early the following morning, ignoring the doctor’s attempts to stop me.
