Chapter 184:
After that, the man shifted his attention to me. His eyes weren’t welcoming. They carried a cold, measuring look.
“So this is Lianne?” he muttered, his tone low and distant.
I stood up and gave a small nod. “Hello, I’m Lianne Riley. And you are?”
“I’m Richard Brooks. Ivy’s father,” he replied, a faint smile pulling at his lips.
My chest tightened, and I felt myself grow alert.
Ivy’s father? What was he doing here? And why was he also heading to Zeramyth?

Lianne’s POV:
Once we boarded, the roomy first-class cabin cut us off for the moment from all the noise and bustle outside.
I took the window seat and watched the shifting clouds beyond the glass.
What surprised me was that Richard was there too, also in first class, seated diagonally ahead of Ethan.
Throughout the long flight, I kept sensing a quiet, watchful gaze resting on us.
After we arrived in Zeramyth, Richard gave us a courteous goodbye and disappeared into the stream of people at the airport.
I leaned closer to Ethan and whispered, “Don’t you think Richard showing up here is too much of a coincidence? I have a feeling he’s watching us. The way he looks at you, something about it feels wrong.”
Ethan circled an arm around my waist and pulled me in, his voice low as he reassured me. “Don’t worry, I’ve got this. He won’t be able to stir up any trouble.”
At the airport exit, a black company car from the overseas branch had clearly been waiting for us for a while.
It drove through the busy streets before eventually entering a quiet suburb far removed from the city’s noise.
There, we were met by a lovely standalone villa, elegant and refined, its white exterior framed by dense greenery and a garden blooming with soft lavender that looked like something out of a painting.
The sight caught me slightly off guard. It was genuinely beautiful.
“Do you like it?” Seeing me stare at the villa in silence, Ethan wrapped his arms around me from behind and rested his chin on my shoulder, his warm breath brushing against me with a faint tickle.
I answered honestly, “It’s beautiful. It feels like a place hidden away from the world.”
“If you like it, then come here more often.” He laughed softly, his voice colored with indulgence.
I paused, an odd feeling passing through me, then asked casually, “Did you buy this place?”
“I did. I come here often for work, and hotels are inconvenient, so I bought a house here.” He took my hand and led me inside.
I let him guide me along, but still couldn’t stop myself from asking, “Then when you come here to see Ivy every year, do you stay here too?”
Ethan stopped short, and his fingers tightened around my hand without thinking.
He turned to explain, “I do stay here when I’m on business, but Ivy has never come here. Other than the housekeeping staff, you’re the first woman to ever walk into this place.”
