Chapter 859:
Two days after Lianne was discharged from the hospital, Tracy burst into our villa with Jeremy right behind her.
The moment she spotted Lianne sitting on the couch, her eyes turned red.
She ran over, wrapped Lianne in a tight hug, and burst into tears. “Do you have any idea how scared I was?! When I heard you collapsed after coughing up blood, my legs almost gave out! You have to promise me you’ll never scare me like that again, okay?”
Although the hug left Lianne a little short of breath, she smiled and gently patted Tracy’s back. “Alright, alright. I’m okay now, aren’t I? Don’t worry. It won’t happen again. I still have to watch my children grow up. And don’t forget, Silas is meant to marry your precious daughter one day.”
Tracy stared at her for a second, then burst into laughter. She lightly punched Lianne on the shoulder. “You’re already thinking that far ahead?”

Watching them laugh together and comfort one another, I finally felt the weight pressing on my heart begin to lift.
I let out a soft sigh of relief.
Lianne’s face was still pale, but the spark had finally returned to her eyes.
Ethan’s POV
Jeremy had been listening from nearby, and he couldn’t stay silent any longer. “Hey!” he cut in, shooting a glare at the two women. “Don’t you think you’re jumping the gun here? Why should my daughter marry Silas? I never agreed to this!”
Lianne and Tracy turned toward him at the same time, exchanging amused looks before giving him identical expressions of disdain.
Tracy rolled her eyes dramatically. “You’re acting like an overprotective dad already. If they grow up and end up liking each other, what’s wrong with that?”
Lianne jumped in with a nod. “That’s right, Jeremy. Your way of thinking is so old-fashioned.”
Completely outnumbered, Jeremy could only huff in defeat. Muttering under his breath, he grabbed my arm and pulled me toward the window.
Behind us, laughter soon filled the living room again as Tracy and Lianne carried on chatting.
The smile faded from Jeremy’s face. His expression turned serious as he lowered his voice. “About what I mentioned before, have you made a decision?”
I looked down, letting a few quiet seconds pass before answering, “I already spoke to Melisa. I asked her to transfer everything to me: the poison, the backlash, all of it. Lianne would be free. She’s still thinking it over.”
Jeremy stared at me in shock. “Have you gone crazy?” he hissed, instinctively lowering his voice even further. “That doesn’t solve the problem. All you’re doing is letting Melisa wrap you around her finger. Ethan, wake up.”
I remained silent.
Drawing a slow breath, Jeremy tried again. “Listen to me. Get close to Melisa. Let her believe she’s getting what she wants. She’s obviously interested in you, so use that. Once she lowers her guard, we’ll finally have a chance to completely remove the poison from Lianne’s body. Right now, it’s the only plan that has any real chance of working.”
Still, I said nothing.
