Chapter 578:
“Coincidence?” Ethan repeated, arching a brow as danger flickered across his expression. “Lianne, the staff already thinks he’s your mate. They said he’s been visiting your father’s grave for years, regardless of the weather. That sounds less like a coincidence and more like a declaration that he has been the one by your side for the past three years.”
I released a quiet sigh and clasped his hand gently. “You’re misunderstanding things. Frank and I are closer than friends, we’re like family. He was only helping me.”
Ethan scoffed under his breath. “Only helping? Enough to make everyone there believe he belongs beside you?”
“He promised he’d let go of me and find someone who was actually right for him,” I said, trying to ease the tension building inside him.
But Ethan clearly refused to believe it. “That’s something only you could accept so easily. The way he looks at me, he’d gladly tear me apart if given the chance. I’ll see how long he keeps pretending otherwise.”

The room fell silent again as we stared at each other in the darkness.
Eventually, Ethan exhaled in defeat before lifting me effortlessly into his arms and placing me back onto the bed.
“What am I gonna do with you, Lianne?” he whispered quietly, resting his forehead against mine.
Deep down, I understood something clearly. If Ethan didn’t love me as much as he did, he would have killed Frank long ago.
Several days later, Melisa forwarded a thorough medical assessment.
Although Ethan’s injury had recovered extremely well, she still recommended one final examination back in Thiynia to ensure there were no hidden complications.
Concerned about the children enduring such a long trip comfortably, Ethan immediately reserved the entire first-class section of the aircraft.
I glanced around the lavish yet completely empty cabin and frowned slightly. “It’s only a ten-hour flight. Isn’t this a bit excessive?”
Ethan lounged comfortably in a leather seat nearby, feeding Ruby blueberries one at a time with endless patience.
At my question, he lifted his eyes toward me, amusement glimmering faintly within them. “Not excessive at all. Though if you think it is, I can transfer everything I own to you. From now on, you can approve every cent I spend. What do you think?”
“Absolutely not.” I shook my head immediately.
I neither wanted nor trusted myself with that kind of responsibility.
Ethan merely smiled without insisting further, looking at me with the quiet certainty of someone who already considered everything his to be mine as well.
The journey passed quickly amid the children’s laughter and endless chatter.
By the time we arrived at the airport, an imposing fleet of armored luxury vehicles was already waiting outside.
Shortly after we entered the car, my phone vibrated inside my bag.
I pulled it out and froze briefly when Frank’s name appeared across the screen.
The atmosphere inside the vehicle shifted instantly.
Ethan slowly opened his eyes from where he had been resting. The moment his gaze landed on the caller ID, the temperature around him seemed to plummet.
“Go ahead. Let’s hear what your ‘old friend’ wants now,” he said with a cold laugh.
Helpless, I sighed and placed my hand over his. “It’s probably nothing important. You really don’t have to behave like this.”
