Chapter 729:
He lowered his voice. “Lianne, have you really thought this through? From choosing the materials to completing the first draft, how many sleepless nights did you spend on this project? If you give up the credit now, you’ll lose one of the strongest achievements on your résumé. Do you understand what that could mean for your future in this industry?”
I only offered him a faint smile and looked away. “Thank you, Alex. But I’m no longer chasing achievements. All I want now is to leave Voss Group behind and start a new chapter of my life.”
Before he could speak further, I turned and walked into the conference room.
I had already made my decision. Those honors no longer meant anything to me. They were only another tie binding me to Ethan. What I wanted more than anything was to walk away from Voss Group completely.
The morning meeting passed with nothing unusual. They mainly discussed the usual project progress reports.

I sat quietly in the corner as one jewelry design after another appeared on the presentation slides. Every sketch reminded me of the nights Ethan and I had spent discussing them together beneath the warm glow of the lamplight.
Now they felt like distant dreams that had long since faded, lingering only in my memory.
Once the meeting ended, I handed Alex the complete set of project documents I had stayed up late preparing the previous night.
“Everything’s been organized by color and priority,” I said calmly. “The suppliers’ contact details and the backup plans are included in the attachments. The new director only needs to look everything over once, and they can take over immediately without impacting next week’s schedule.”
Alex flipped through the thick stack of carefully arranged documents. The more he read, the angrier he became. “You did all the hard work, solved every problem, and even prepared contingency plans for possible risks down the road. And now someone else gets to step in and enjoy the results? This is completely unfair!”
“As long as the project is completed successfully, that’s enough for me,” I replied without the slightest concern.
Even though I was leaving, and even though the project was no longer mine, I had devoted my whole heart to it. I wanted every member of the team to receive their year-end bonus without any issues, and I wanted the artisans’ dedication to be rewarded. That was enough for me.
After returning to my desk, I poured myself a cup of water and sipped it slowly. The warmth gradually eased the burning ache in my stomach.
With nothing else to do, I casually browsed my social media feed until one post suddenly caught my attention.
It was Frank’s newest update. “I have a girlfriend now.”
The photo showed two hands clasped together, bathed in soft afternoon sunlight.
I blinked in surprise.
Just yesterday, he’d told me he was going on a date. Today, he was already making their relationship official.
Tracy immediately left a comment filled with surprise.
Frank replied openly beneath it, “It was love at first sight.”
Love at first sight. I looked at those words for a long while, then quietly tapped the like button.
From the bottom of my heart, I was genuinely happy for Frank.
