Chapter 525:
My fingers shook as I carefully touched the skin beside the wound. My heart ached so painfully I found it hard to breathe.
“Does it hurt?” I asked softly, my voice trembling with emotion.
“It doesn’t hurt anymore.” Ethan’s voice remained soft as he spoke. He placed his hand over mine, trying to ease my worry.
But I knew better. The injury had gone straight through him. It was the kind of wound that could have taken his life.

No matter how extraordinary his healing abilities were, the agony he must have endured when it happened was unimaginable.
“Ethan…” My voice cracked as guilt overwhelmed me. “My life wasn’t worth risking yours for.”
His hand moved to my chin. He lifted it so I could meet his gaze. There wasn’t a trace of regret in his eyes, just fierce possessiveness.
“That’s not for you to decide.” His words were firm, leaving no room for doubt. “Lianne, you are my life. Saving you wasn’t something I chose to do. It was instinct.”
He brushed kisses across the tears on my cheeks. The tenderness of the gesture made my heart ache even more.
Then he muttered with jealousy, “If you keep crying like this, Frank is probably going to think I’ve been hard on you again.”
Through my tears, I burst into laughter and gave him a light push. “Just get in the bath already and stop talking.”
Ethan slipped out of his pants and underwear.
Eventually, I had him sit on a small stool beside the bathtub while I stood behind him, carefully washing his hair.
My fingers threaded through the thick strands, and whenever I accidentally brushed the sensitive skin along his neck, I felt his body tense slightly.
His eyes remained closed, his entire body relaxed as he entrusted himself completely to me. At that moment, he reminded me of a powerful beast finally finding a rare moment of peace.
My gaze drifted to the mirror. When I saw our reflections together, my heart melted.
Lianne’s POV:
After his bath, Ethan settled into bed and rested against the headboard. He held a pen as he drew an intricate structural chart across a blank sheet of paper.
At the same time, he explained the strategic restructuring he planned for the businesses under the Thorn Pack.
“The traditional trading-house approach depends too much on local resources. What we need is a system built on investment banking principles. Cross-shareholding, strategic alliances, and interconnected interests that create long-term stability…”
Whenever Ethan spoke about his area of expertise, his natural authority shone through. The confidence and wisdom of a true leader seemed effortless for him.
I sat beside him with a notebook on my lap, carefully noting every point he made.
Each time I looked puzzled, he noticed immediately. Without a hint of impatience, he slowed down and transformed the complex financial concepts into simple explanations that were easy to follow.
My admiration for him deepened with every passing minute.
Ethan was more than an Alpha blessed with extraordinary power. He was also a very intelligent man.
