Chapter 101:
“There are claims that you’ve been using your authority to target Ivy. Is that true?”
“As a senior executive at Voss Group, would you say your behavior counts as workplace harassment?”
So many black microphones were shoved nearly against my face, and the camera shutters rattled nonstop like gunfire, making my already frail body feel on the verge of giving out.
Pinned in the center of the crowd, I was buried under a flood of chaotic accusations.
Coming between Ivy and the Alpha?

The more I looked at those faces brimming with malice and curiosity, the more absurd it all felt.
I was Ethan’s fated mate, yet to them, I was the shameless one, the person unfit to stand in the light.
“Get out of the way.” I drew in a breath, but my voice still shook uncontrollably.
“Please answer the question! Did you intentionally spill coffee on Ivy because you were jealous that she’s the Alpha’s first love?”
The pressure crashed down on me like a storm, leaving me short of breath, my chest constricted and my lower abdomen faintly aching.
This was all Ethan’s doing.
If he hadn’t chosen to throw me away to shield Ivy, how could these paparazzi possibly have dared to come at me like this?
“I’m saying it one more time. Move.” I forced my face still. “If you don’t, I’ll call the police and accuse you of unlawful detention and deliberate harassment.”
Maybe it was the resolve in my eyes that unnerved them, but the paparazzi hesitated before reluctantly stepping aside.
I rushed to the parking lot, got into the car, and drove away from that nightmare.
I went neither home nor back to the office.
Instead, I found a quiet bar with dim lighting and tucked myself into the corner of a booth.
My phone buzzed inside my bag. It was a message from Ethan. “Sorry, I know the paparazzi surrounded you. I’ll have PR deal with it.”
Sorry?
That word meant nothing to me anymore.
I let out a cold laugh and held down the power button to switch off my phone.
I didn’t want his pity, and I wanted his late, hollow apology even less.
“A mojito, please,” I said to the bartender.
“Having a drink by yourself doesn’t really seem like your style.” A familiar voice came from the other side of the booth.
I lifted my eyes and saw a man wrapped up from head to toe: a black cap, oversized sunglasses, and a mask hiding most of his face.
But I knew those eyes at once.
“Frank?” My expression softened, and I managed a small smile. “What are you doing here? So even a big star needs somewhere quiet once in a while?”
Frank tugged his mask down a little, revealing a remarkably handsome face. “I just finished eating upstairs with some people from the TV station. When I came down, I saw someone sitting here looking completely lost. When I walked closer, I realized it was you.”
