Chapter 760

Chapter 760:
“Enough.” I cut him off again, unwilling to hear another hollow explanation. I waved a tired hand and said wearily, “I made the mistake. I don’t have the right to question anything he does. Noah, just pass along my message. I won’t bother him again…”
Before I could finish speaking, the heavy wooden office door burst open with a deafening bang, crashing hard into the wall.
The sound echoed through the room. My words died in my throat as my entire body went rigid.
A tall, commanding figure strode into the office, his powerful presence filling the room. The familiar, cold scent of cedar drifted toward me with overwhelming force, sending an uncontrollable shiver through my body.
It was Ethan.

Wasn’t he supposed to be overseas handling the merger? Then why was he standing here now?
The calm, controlled expression he always wore was gone, replaced by barely restrained fury and agitation.
He closed the distance between us in a few long strides, his blazing eyes never leaving mine.
It had been so long since I’d last seen him. Now that he was standing this close, I found myself staring at his impossibly handsome face, only realizing then how deeply I had missed him.
“Ethan…” I whispered.
“I let you go so you’d have the freedom to fight your own battle and seek justice for your father!” His voice was harsh, every word squeezed out through clenched teeth. “Not so you could waste yourself in bars, getting drunk in front of everyone! Lianne, you knew I was abroad and couldn’t get back, yet you called me in the middle of the night. And now you’re actually blaming me for it?”
“I wasn’t…” I answered on instinct, trying to explain, but my thoughts were in complete disarray.
“You weren’t?” He gave a cold, mocking laugh, his fiery stare piercing straight through me. “You know better than anyone how serious your stomach condition is, but you drank anyway. Are you trying to destroy yourself? Or do you want to die so I’ll spend the rest of my life carrying the guilt of losing you?”
The Ethan I knew had always been calm, elegant, and impeccably composed. But now, he had completely lost control.
In one sharp motion, he tore off his tie. The force was so great that the sapphire button fastening his collar snapped free and hit the floor with a clatter.
I couldn’t help shrinking back, taking a cautious step away.
He immediately closed the gap between us, his overwhelming presence making it hard to breathe.
“Listen carefully.” He bent down suddenly, his face only inches from mine. His breathtaking features filled my vision as his warm breath brushed against my skin. “If you so much as take one sip from those bottles on the desk, I’ll shut that brewery down. And no matter where you go to buy alcohol, I’ll make sure their business systems fail and their doors never open again.”
I looked into his eyes, my heart and mind thrown into complete turmoil.
I had never seen him like this before. He was possessive, controlling, and completely unreasonable.
But beneath all that anger… was that fear I saw in his eyes?
