Chapter 205:
I didn’t want to keep concealing it any longer. These secrets were wearing everyone down.
I was going to tell Rola the truth, that what existed between Ethan and me was already shattered.
I wanted my freedom. And I wanted my child to enter this world untainted and free.
Ethan’s POV
By the time I wrapped up at work, Lianne was already gone, so I ended up driving back alone.
I stood by myself in the empty elevator, watching the floor numbers drop one by one while the unease clawing at me only deepened.
The moment I stepped out and pulled open the car door, about to get in, a tall figure suddenly cut off my path.
It was Frank.
He came toward me through the dim light of the underground garage, his eyes locked firmly on me.

“Can we talk?” he asked.
I looked him over with cold indifference and didn’t even bother shutting the car door. Instead, I leaned against the car and lit a cigarette.
I hadn’t forgotten that he was the man Lianne had supposedly liked for years, and I certainly hadn’t forgotten the way he had held her in the parking lot.
“What is it you want to say? If this is about Lianne, then you’ve found the wrong person.” I exhaled a stream of smoke, my voice edged with hostility.
“It’s exactly because this concerns Lianne that I need to speak to you,” Frank said, stopping right in front of me. “I’m not willing to watch her keep suffering for your mistakes, and I’m not willing to see her take the blame for anger that was never meant for her.”
A frown settled over my face, and I motioned for him to get into the car.
The moment we were inside, a dense silence dropped between us. I started the engine, but I didn’t pull away right away.
“So what exactly are you trying to say?” I asked.
“Let her go, Ethan.” Frank turned his head and looked straight at me. “The rumors about you and Ivy have already exploded online. Those rabid fans and sensationalist media accounts are throwing all the blame onto Lianne. And you? What have you actually done for her?”
“On what grounds are you saying this to me?” I shot back, turning sharply toward him. “She’s my fated mate, and she’s my wife.”
“A friend,” Frank answered calmly, meeting my eyes with the faintest trace of mockery at his mouth. “Or, if you prefer, a man who’s wanted her for a very long time and never got the chance. I’ll admit it, I’ve liked her since our college days.”
My hands tightened into fists, the joints popping under the strain.
“If you care so much about her, then you should know exactly what she’s being forced to endure right now.” Frank pulled out a recording pen and switched it on.
The next second, vicious insults flooded the car.
“Lianne’s still not dead?”
