Chapter 502:
I rubbed my temples as a dull ache began to pulse behind them.
Jeremy… Some of that idiot’s bad habits were so deeply rooted that even time couldn’t get rid of them.
“Lianne just fell asleep. She can’t come to the phone,” I interrupted Tracy’s complaints coldly. “I’ll deal with it. For now, stay in your room and stop provoking Jeremy.”
Tracy was clearly startled to hear my voice instead of Lianne’s. After a brief pause, she hurriedly apologized and hung up in a fluster.

Standing on the balcony, I immediately dialed Jeremy’s number.
“Ethan…” Jeremy picked up, his voice embarrassed. “I was only joking around with Tracy. How was I supposed to know she’d burst into tears over something so small?”
“Jeremy.” My cold voice cut through his explanation. “I asked you to look after her, not pull this kind of crap. If anything happens to her, Lianne will be upset. And I don’t want to see Lianne cry over anything.”
“Alright, alright… I get it,” Jeremy muttered, though the reluctance in his voice was obvious.
“From now on, keep your distance from Tracy. I’ll assign someone else to protect her. You can focus on dealing with the elders’ mess instead.”
After ending the call, I turned to head back inside when a familiar voice suddenly sounded behind me.
“Alpha, if you continue ignoring medical orders, I’m going to have to take drastic measures.”
Melisa stood at the end of the corridor in her spotless white coat, both hands tucked into her pockets. Her expression was one of weary exasperation.
Her sharp gaze swept over my pale complexion before she said sternly, “I specifically ordered you to remain in bed until tomorrow. Yet here you are, not only out of bed but standing in the cold. Do you genuinely have a death wish?”
I remained silent, leaning against the wall as a wave of dizziness rolled through me.
“If you insist on being this stubborn, I’ll ask Ms. Riley for help and let her handle you,” Melisa threatened.
At the mention of Lianne, my rigid posture stiffened slightly. After a moment, I finally sighed in reluctant surrender. “Don’t wake her. She just fell asleep.”
Seeing that I was finally willing to cooperate, Melisa’s expression softened a little.
She strode over and reached out to support me. “Come on. Let me help you back inside.”
The instant her fingers neared my sleeve, I recoiled instinctively, twisting away as though I’d been burned.
The sudden movement pulled at the wound in my chest, and I sucked in a sharp breath.
Melisa froze, her hand suspended awkwardly in midair. Confusion flashed across her face. “Alpha, I was only trying to help.”
“My apologies.” I steadied myself against the wall, my expression indifferent and my tone devoid of warmth. “I have very strict personal boundaries.”
A flicker of embarrassment crossed her face as she lowered her hand. “I’m sorry, Alpha. I overstepped.”
I waved dismissively, signaling that she didn’t need to concern herself with it.
