Chapter 505:
Dressed in a thin black silk robe, he sat beside the bed with a silver laptop resting on his knees.
Though his complexion was still pale from blood loss, his long fingers moved steadily across the keyboard. The shifting light and shadow sharpened the angles of his profile, making him appear composed and commanding even in recovery.
“Why are you out of bed again?” I blurted out, immediately sitting upright despite my sore body. “Melisa has warned you time and again. Your body can’t handle this right now.”
His fingers stilled. When he looked up at me, the chill in his eyes instantly melted away, replaced by unmistakable warmth.
“You’re awake.” He closed the laptop, his voice rough from fatigue. “I haven’t slept. There were some overdue contracts from the pack that needed reviewing.”
“You haven’t slept at all?” My heart tightened. Throwing back the blanket, I climbed out of bed. “Have you completely lost your mind? You’re not some machine, you need rest. Get back into bed right now.”
Without waiting for permission, I confiscated the laptop and set it aside before forcing him back beneath the covers.
To my surprise, he offered very little resistance. Leaning against the pillows obediently, he simply watched me. The intensity of his gaze made my heartbeat stumble.

“I’ll go through them for you,” I said, settling beside the bed with the laptop balanced on my knees. “Just close your eyes and get some rest. If anything comes up that needs your signature, I’ll wake you.”
Opening the first document, I skimmed the heading before hesitating. Then I looked back at him. “This contract has a confidentiality clause. Are you sure it’s all right for me to read it?”
Ethan reached over and lightly pinched my fingertips. His expression was impossibly gentle. “You have access to everything. No secrets between us.” His thumb brushed across my hand. “Go ahead, my Luna.”
The endearment instantly threw my composure into disarray.
I lowered my head, hoping to hide the heat rising in my face, and began reading the dry business terms aloud one by one.
“Gelidmark?” I breathed, my hand freezing over the keyboard.
That country had always been a distant dream of mine, nestled far away in the Nersard Isles.
I remembered flipping through a magazine once, reading about its endless winters and the cathedral spire that never seemed to shake off its blanket of snow. When the northern lights painted the sky, the whole city turned into something out of a storybook, a frozen kingdom of ice and light.
“Is that somewhere you’ve always wanted to go?” Ethan asked, breaking through my daze. I found his eyes already fixed on me, watching with calm attentiveness.
I nodded, a soft smile tugging at my lips. “Yeah. I read about it years ago and always thought the snow there must be so untouched, so pure.”
Ethan reached over and took my hand, his warm fingers wrapping around mine.
