Chapter 251:
Rola lifted her head, her eyes swollen and red, then let out a long, heavy breath, sorrow darkening her face. “It was Ivy… Somehow, she got hold of his private number. Harold answered her call and after only a few words, he became so upset that he started trembling and fell on the spot.”
Ivy again.
I pressed my lips together, and a cold, murderous glint swept through my eyes.
I stepped into the stairwell and immediately reached Noah through the mind link. “Have you found Ivy?”
“Alpha, after you forced Ivy out, she vanished completely. Our men searched every place she could have gone, but we still have not found a single trace of her.” There was a note of unease in Noah’s voice.
“Then keep looking! Search every corner and drag her back to me!”
After I cut off the link, I returned to the waiting area.
The sight of Rola’s tired, stricken face cut into me like a knife.
I walked toward her slowly, sank to one knee, and wrapped my hands around hers, which were cold as ice, my voice thick with pain. “This is my fault. If I had not insisted on bringing Ivy back, Grandpa would never have ended up like this. This is because of me.”

Rola’s hands trembled as she pulled me back to my feet, tears spilling freely down her face. “You cannot bear all of this by yourself. No one could have known she would go this far.”
Just then, the steady sound of footsteps echoed from the other end of the corridor.
Adrian appeared, still dressed in his sharply tailored suit, his expression grave and unreadable.
As the Voss family’s adopted son, he had spent years overseas, yet he had returned at this critical moment and had even met with Lianne alone before.
I looked at him with cold restraint, every nerve in me sharpening with suspicion. But right then, I had no space left to think about why he was there. The only thing that mattered was Harold making it out of that room alive.
An hour later, the light above the emergency room finally went dark.
The dean stepped out with several specialists, removed his mask slowly, and gave a heavy shake of his head. “We’re sorry, but we did everything we could. The old gentleman was too old to withstand the shock. You may go in and see him one last time.”
“No!” Rola cried and collapsed, and I barely caught her before she hit the floor.
When we slowly pushed open the operating room door, an icy silence engulfed the room inside.
Harold lay on the freezing operating table, his face, once marked by authority and gentle warmth, now emptied of all color and life.
His family crowded around him, and their sobs rose together into one unbroken wave of sorrow.
I remained at the very edge of them all, staring at the man who had shown me what it meant to be an Alpha, what it meant to stand guard over the pack, and it felt as if something inside my chest was being ripped to pieces.
I laid a hand over my heart and offered him my deepest apology in silence.
