Chapter 695

Chapter 695:
“Jeremy probably booked another room for you,” I said as I gently laid Ruby down.
“I know.” He casually closed the door behind him. “I’ll leave once the kids are settled.”
Silas sat on the edge of the bed. His eyes shifted from me to Ethan before he suddenly said, “Daddy, Mommy, you two go do what you need to do. I’ll take good care of Ruby, so you don’t have to worry.”
His innocent words, paired with his surprising awareness, instantly made my face flush.

Ethan walked over and, in a firm tone, told Silas it was time for his nap.
While they were distracted, I slipped into the bathroom. I wanted to change out of my thick, sweaty clothes, touch up my makeup, and calm my flushed face.
I changed into a light silk slip dress and stood in front of the mirror while I reapplied my lipstick.
The moment I finished and lifted my eyes, I caught Ethan’s reflection in the mirror. He was leaning against the doorway, his unwavering gaze fixed on me.
Lianne’s POV:
I didn’t know how long Ethan had been standing there, but the moment I looked up, I caught the fierce, dangerous gleam burning in his eyes.
“You…” I began, intending to ask why he was still here instead of leaving, but before I could finish, he closed the distance between us.
His broad, warm hand wrapped around my wrist in a firm grip.
The next thing I knew, he pushed me with enough force that I stumbled backward until my back met the cool tiled wall.
His chest radiated heat only inches from mine while the icy wall pressed against my back, trapping me between two completely opposite sensations.
The contrast sent a shiver through me, and my breathing instantly turned uneven.
“Ethan, the kids are just outside…” I tried to remind him, but the words vanished the instant our eyes met.
There was something untamed in his gaze that stole every protest from my lips.
Without giving me another chance to speak, he lowered his head and captured my lips in a fierce kiss.
The cramped bathroom suddenly felt far smaller, every inch of space filled with the silent tension between us. As his lips met mine, my eyelids drifted shut on instinct.
To my surprise, this kiss wasn’t like the others.
Instead of overwhelming me with his usual domineering intensity, he kissed me with astonishing patience, as though I were something precious he’d finally found again after losing it for far too long.
I instinctively curled my fingers into the front of his shirt.
My heartbeat pounded loudly in my ears, and warmth flooded my cheeks until even the tips of my ears were burning.
After what felt like forever, he finally lifted his lips from mine, though he still kept me gently pinned against the wall.
Resting his forehead against mine, he let his warm breath brush over my lips before asking in a deep, slightly teasing voice, “You dressed up so beautifully today. Who exactly are you trying to impress?”
