Chapter 273:
“Why are you crying again?” he asked, flustered, rising to circle the table and gently brush my tears away. “Don’t cry. It hurts me to see you like this.”
I leaned into him, soaking in the warmth, letting my voice tremble. “I’m really happy. Ethan, thank you. Thank you for choosing to love me after everything.”
“Silly girl, I’m the one who should be thanking you.” He pressed a soft kiss to the crown of my head, sincerity ringing in his voice. “Thank you for letting me love you again. Thank you for staying by my side.”
I closed my eyes, tears soaking into his shirt, clinging to the fleeting comfort.
Yet in the back of my mind, I reminded myself to keep a clear head.
This was only a fragile dream I had spun for him and for myself before I walked away.
Lianne’s POV
After the meal, Ethan clasped my hand and guided me out of the villa.
The night air held the sharp bite of freshly fallen snow, yet his stride remained sure, his palm steadily passing warmth into mine.
“Shut your eyes. I’ve got something for you,” he murmured, his broad, warm hand softly covering my sight.

Darkness swallowed everything, leaving only the rhythm of his heartbeat and the whisper of wind brushing through the treetops.
“Alright, open them.”
As his hand slipped away, I lifted my eyes.
A piercing whistle sliced across the night sky, followed by an eruption of dazzling fireworks blooming against the dark.
Scarlet, amber, violet… radiant sparks cascaded like falling stars, turning the snow-covered ground bright as daylight.
A breath caught in my throat, my hand rising to my lips as the fading brilliance shimmered in my eyes.
“Do you like it?” Ethan drew me into his arms from behind, his chin settling against my shoulder.
Before I could speak, he turned and pressed his lips to mine in a deep kiss.
With the fireworks blazing behind us, the moment felt like a fragile dream, yet it lingered as though it would never fade.
I had no doubt this was a kiss I would carry with me forever.
Back in the bedroom, we rested against the balcony railing, fingers intertwined as we watched the final sparks dissolve into the night.
When quiet returned to the sky, I turned toward him, feigning weariness as I leaned into his chest. “Ethan, I’m tired.”
“Go take a shower and get some rest,” he said, gently tousling my hair, his gaze soft enough to thaw the coldest heart.
I walked into the bathroom, letting the warm water stream over me, along with the tears I could no longer contain.
When I came out, Ethan was seated on the bed, lost somewhere in his thoughts.
“What’s on your mind?” I asked, leaning back against the headboard as I waited for him.
“I was thinking about where we should travel,” he said, shaking himself free of the moment with a faint smile before heading toward the bathroom. “Wait for me. I’ll be quick.”
The sound of water running filled the room.
