Chapter 636:
“I did it to protect the family’s reputation!” Evelyn snapped, her voice rising even higher with anger. “Rola is your grandmother! She’s one of the pack’s respected elders! And now you’re helping an outsider drag her to court? What do you think everyone in the pack will say about you?”
I let out a cold laugh. “Lianne’s father was once part of our pack. He devoted his life to the Voss family with absolute loyalty, only to lose it in the end. As Alpha of the pack, shouldn’t I be making sure a fallen pack member receives justice?”
For a brief moment, Evelyn had nothing to say. When she finally spoke again, her voice had softened. She sounded desperate and on the verge of tears. “Ethan, Rola was deceived… it was all Ivy’s doing! She manipulated your grandmother into making those choices. Rola knows she made a mistake. She’s old now, Ethan. She won’t survive the pressure of a trial. Can’t you just let it go?”
“Let it go?” I slowly closed my eyes. Lianne’s grief-stricken face as she talked about her father appeared vividly in my mind. “It was Lianne’s father who died. It’s not my place to forgive. You keep saying Rola was manipulated, but that doesn’t change the fact that someone died because of her!”
I had warned them many times. I told them to stay away from Lianne and not to involve themselves in anything linked to Ivy.
But no one took my words seriously. They believed I was acting out of infatuation, convinced that once they removed every obstacle, I would become the obedient puppet they could control again.
“I warned all of you to leave Lianne alone.” My voice was calm, each word intentional and cutting like a blade. “Now, it’s over between Lianne and me. Isn’t that what you wanted? Ever since I found her again, I’ve done everything I could to make up for the past. I gave all my patience, hoping that someday you would accept her.”
I let out a bitter laugh, feeling tears welling up in my eyes. “But my own family destroyed every bit of that hope. You took her father from her. And now you’re trying to take away her last chance to get justice.”

Noah stood quietly beside me. His eyes had turned red, and he looked away, avoiding my gaze.
“Listen carefully, Evelyn.” I leaned closer to the phone, my voice dropping into a cold, dangerous whisper. “If I had the chance to start over, I would choose never to be born into this corrupted pack. This is the last warning you’ll get. Stay away from Lianne. Do not interfere with Bastion Law Firm. Don’t push me to the edge. If you do, I won’t hold back when I strike.”
Lianne’s POV
My fingertips lightly traced the stack of documents that attorney Tim Hoffman had just handed me. The faintly rough paper beneath my fingers gave me a sense of stability I hadn’t experienced in years.
It was no surprise that Bastion Law Firm had earned itself a legendary reputation in the city.
Every other law firm had backed away the instant they heard the Voss family’s name, but Bastion had taken on my case without the slightest hesitation.
