The moment Jeremy saw her, he ran to her side and reached for her hand, desperate to apologize. “Tracy, I’m sorry. I was wrong. I really…”
Before his fingers could touch her, Tracy jerked her hand away as though burned. Disgust flashed across her face as she turned away, shut her eyes, and refused to say a single word to him.
Once Tracy had been settled into a hospital room, I sat beside her bed and softly asked how she was feeling.
She slowly opened her eyes to look at me. They immediately filled with tears, and she spoke in a faint, fragile voice. “Lianne, thank you. I’m sorry for making you worry so much.”
“You silly girl, don’t apologize,” I said gently. “The doctor told you to stay calm and remain in bed so the baby will be safe. You can’t let your emotions get out of control again, okay?”
At those words, Tracy’s eyes moved past me and fell on Jeremy, who stood silently in the corner. Her gaze turned cold as she said, “Tell him to leave. I don’t want to see him.”

Jeremy stood frozen, refusing to take a single step. His eyes were bloodshot as he begged, “I’m not going anywhere, Tracy. You can hit me, yell at me, punish me however you want. Just don’t make me leave.”
The heavy tension between them filled the room, leaving me caught awkwardly in the middle.
Unsure what to do, I looked toward Ethan, standing by the doorway.
Without saying anything, Ethan walked over, firmly grabbed Jeremy by the arm, and led him out of the room before he had any chance to object.
After the door shut behind them, I got to my feet and adjusted Tracy’s blanket. “He’s gone now. Try not to stay angry. It’s not good for you or the baby.”
Keeping her eyes fixed on the ceiling, Tracy looked utterly exhausted. Tears slipped from the corners of her eyes and disappeared into the pillow beneath her. “Lianne, I’m so tired. Jeremy is reckless and hot-headed. I’m tired of all the arguments caused by his quick temper. I don’t think there’s a future for us anymore.”
I said softly, hoping to comfort her, “He loves you so much that his jealousy overwhelms his judgment. He can’t bear seeing another man anywhere near you. But even so, Jeremy truly went too far this time.”
“The moment my ex-boyfriend came up, Jeremy completely lost control!” Tracy’s emotions surged again, and her breathing turned uneven.
I quickly took her hand and held it gently, trying to calm her down. “Please, stay calm. Think about the baby. You can’t let yourself get so upset.”
She let out a long, weary sigh. “If only Jeremy had even half of Ethan’s maturity. He’s always acting on impulse like a child. I’m scared that one day his stubbornness and bad temper will cause something irreversible. I really don’t know if I can keep going with him.”
